Democratic Stupidity
Harry Reid has compared President Bush to Millard Fillmore, the last Whig President who entered the White House because President Taylor died in office. It is commonly thought by historians that Fillmore divided the Whig Party over the slavery issue and led to its destruction.
Interesting that Reid believes that Fillmore is the worst epithet that he can throw at the President. What happened to Herbert Hoover? I mean, what happened to Herbert Hoover? That has been the staple Democratic insult for the last 70 or so years.
Quick tip for the Nevada Senator: I know you probably didn’t get much time to study this while you were out in Searchlight (I assume you were otherwise occupied at that time), (hint – it’s at the bottom of the article) but Presidents Pierce and Buchanan made Fillmore seem like the most competent President of the 19th century. I assume you omitted them because they were Democrats. And, if you want to make a comparison with Presidents of the last 100 years, I will compare President Bush’s record with that of Jimmy Carter’s anyday.
