2006 Pennsylvania Governor Race

Lynn Swann has endorsed Montgomery County Commissioners Chairman James R. Matthews for Lieutenant Governor. A Swann-Matthews ticket would be a dream team for the GOP. A new Strategic Vision poll has Rendell leading Swann 45%-41%. Of course, the writer of this article described that as “handily defeat.” Only the Times Herald.

In any event, with Matthews on the ticket, Swann would increase the GOP share of the vote in the suburban counties. If Swann can get 45% of the vote, it becomes very chancy for the Democratic incumbent. If Swann can win 50% in the suburban counties, Rendell is toast.
