The federal gummint on Friday issued its monthly report on revenue and spending.

Here are the highlights:

11.9% – Increase in gummint revenues (Feb. 2006 vs. Feb. 2005).

Yes, Krugman-Dobbs, lower tax rates can and do equate to higher tax receipts.

* * *

2.64% – Year-over-year decrease in the annual budget deficit.

Certainly not the kind of steep downwards movement we’d all like.

But in light of Katrina/Rita, not even close to the disasterous result many had feared.

Go figure.

* * *

8.0% – Increase in gummint spending (Feb. 2006 vs. Feb. 2005).

Grrrr.
