Too Expensive!!
Excerpt from the article on immigration that Jayson linked to below:
In December, the House voted to build 700 miles of fencing in all four states that border Mexico, a proposal that even conservative Senate Republicans oppose on the grounds that it would be too expensive.
Too expensive!
The 700-mile-long fence will cost at most $5 billion. And that’s accounting for government math. The annual US budget is well in excess of $2 trillion. Assuming the fence will take, say, 3 years to build, it works out to less than 0.08 percent of the national budget during that time. Meanwhile, Congress increased spending by 8 percent last year alone!! The annual defense budget is in excess of $400 billion. And we’re still building nuclear submarines at $2.5 billion a pop, long after the cold war has ended. Why not spend that money on a fence instead?
And it’s not like such a fence hasn’t been built before. Israel, a tiny nation of 6 million people, managed to find the money to build a 600-mile long fence for $2 billion. The fence has virtually ended terrorist attacks in the areas it is being built.
And India, a nation with a per-capita annual income of $3,400, is accelerating the construction of a 2,500-mile-long fence with Bangladesh.
Too expensive?? That’s the sorriest excuse I’ve heard yet.
Please call your senators and tell them to stop the invasion of America.
