Abdul Rahman
I am ashamed to say that this is my first post on Abdul Rahman, a man facing the death penalty in Afghanistan for converting from Islam to Christianity. Many others in the blogosphere have done an excellent job covering the story (links to some are provided below), and I have had nothing to add until now.
Today when I was thinking about the case of Rahman I couldn’t help but think of Heather Mercer and Dayna Curry. They were the two Christian women who were rescued early in the war in Afghanistan. Remember them? They were in Afghanistan as humanitarian aid workers, but were caught and charged with preaching Christianity. The women were held in a Taliban prison for three months until rescued by U.S. Special Forces during the war in Afghanistan. I remember the women being interviewed shortly after their rescue about their desire to return to Afghanistan one day to see the people they came to love so much living free from Taliban rule. I wonder what those women must think of the case of Abdul Rahman.

There is a rally tomorrow in D.C. in support of Rahman. It appears there will be a number of bloggers in attendance. If you are in the area, show up and make your voice heard. Another way to voice support for Rahman is to sign this petition.
