Words and the debate

We have learned from our liberal friends that words are extremely important in framing the debate.
As an individual, I have some pretty good sales skills but I have zero nuance.
Once again, Congress is performing its annual attempt to “protect the definition of marriage.” (my phrase)
Many in the dead tree media use phrases like, “Bush urges Congress to ban gay marriages.”
How should we as conservatives choose our words in this debate?
