Doing business in France is so bad…

How bad is it?

Doing business in France is so bad, France has to take out a full-page ad in the Economist saying that it’s not really that bad to do business in France. The ad is a Q&A with a Sony executive, and notes that Sony actually has two production sites in France.

One choice question:

Is there any resistance in France to foreign companies?

Resistance to foreign companies? What would ever give you that idea?

Curiously, there were no questions about the French work ethic.

There were no questions about comments from Christophe Lambert, chief of French advertising giant Publicis.

There was no discussion about race relations in France.

No discussion of how the French deliver on promises.

    We love France, lived there for two years, and we visit every year. But regretfully I have to say the French approach to business is that the customer is always wrong. This is the kind of attitude that comes out when employees cannot be fired and they know it.
