Reuters Misquote Bias or Mistake?
In a story about how some in the Pentagon think military options against Iran are pointless Reuters quotes the following:
The U.S. military’s experience in Iraq, where no weapons of mass destruction were found and the war continues, has affected its approach to Iran, the magazine quoted a high-ranking general as saying
Now how can a general say such a thing given last week’s news? Turns out he didn’t! Here is the actual quote from The New Yorker :
The high-ranking general added that the military’s experience in Iraq, where intelligence on weapons of mass destruction was deeply flawed, has affected its approach to Iran.
Nope, no bias and ignoring of well-known facts there, none what so ever.
P.S. The NY’er piece is an interesting article (even given it’s own bias) but probably deserving of a post of it’s own by guest blogger better suited to the topic.
