The J Curve

For those of you interested in geopolitics and why nations rise and fall, check out The J Curve, the new book by Ian Bremmer. I just went to a talk by Bremmer and it was the best hour I’ve spent in some time (happy endings massages excluded).

It’s worlds beyond the mindless drivel promoted by Thomas L. Friedman, who wants you to pay $30 for his book “The World is Flat” which says nothing more than what we already know: outsourcing happens.

The punchline is that political stability can be achieved either by totalitarianism or by open democracy, but you don’t want to be in the mushy middle. Bremmer is a brilliant guy who knows incredible detail about all of the problem areas of the world, and he has predictions for how things will unfold.

Buy the book, anyway. I have stock in Amazon.
