Montana, Thread The Needle

I really do not like to comment on races where I have no personal knowledge of the people or the region. Ergo, that is why I tend to “limit” my comments to the Bouchard Race and The Negron Race. The Sixers had some great information on Montana:

There’s been some criticism of Conrad Burns and his campaigning on his ability to bring $ to Montana. It looks to be a winning issue, however. Harry Reid announced that if Jon Tester is elected to the Senate, he’ll lobby for Tester to get a seat on the Appropriations Committee “as soon as possible.”

Hmm, if local voters link Burns to his existing Committee assignments, his seniority and that he is part of the majority party, he wins.

Update: Tony in the comments writes:

Oak, I moved to Montana a year ago and started a small business, so I am just now getting a feel for the voters. Montana has election problems like any other state: Biased newspapers and news shows, liberal professors, fake polling, etc…

Mehlman has been running ads for Burns with a simple theme: “Burns is same wonderful senator he’s always been.” People tell me Mehlman was and is popular here. I think his ads are the reason for the upswing in Burns’ polling numbers.

The only thing Tester has is the media harping on biased polls. Montanans will come to its senses and Burns will pull this out.
