Will Debbie (D-MI) Accept Her Own Debate Offer?
On Tuesday, Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) called for a debate on the economy:
“Frankly, I’d like to have a debate about jobs because what people want to know in this state is how we’re going to keep our jobs in this country.”
Will she go through with it? WILX-TV in Lansing, MI has offered to host a televised, statewide debate during prime time.
Meantime, Time’s White House correspondent ponders, “Upset in Michigan?”
Republicans hope that will be one of MANY surprises on election night. They need them. With lots of struggling candidates, the National Republican Senatorial Committee is throwing a $900,000, buzzer-beating lifeline to the Wolverine State and Mike Bouchard, a sheriff who has been running an intense campaign against incumbent Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D), though with little national attention because of her lead in polls and fundraising.
“Mike CAN win with the right resources and that’s why we are coming in,” says NRSC Communications Director Brian Nick. “He’s running on the fact that the economy is the worst in the country and that Stabenow is ineffective. It’s resonating, big time.”
