America is now officially the world’s policeman

Obama’s flimsy reason for intervening in Iraq:

Obama said he had authorized the strikes because militants from ISIS, which recently renamed itself also known as ISIL, were approaching the city of Erbil, where the U.S. has a consulate.*

“To stop the advance on Erbil, I’ve directed our military to take targeted strikes against ISIL terrorist convoys should they move towards the city,” he said. “We intend to stay vigilant and take action if these terrorist forces threaten our personnel or facilities anywhere in Iraq, including our consulate in Erbil and our embassy in Baghdad.”

Since the US has a diplomatic presence in just about every nation on earth, does that mean we will intervene when any city with an American diplomatic presence is threatened?

If only Obama had just come out and told the truth – that we can’t allow a group that’s too extreme for al Qaeda (!!) to gain control of one of the most important countries in the Middle East – who would that have offended?

This is what happens when the president just wants his presidency to end already.

“This is what happens when the president just wants his presidency to end already”

I’m pretty sure he can’t want that more than we do….

Then: “Obama didn’t protect the consulate! Wolverines! Benghazi!”

Now: “Obama is protecting the consulate! World’s policeman, boo!”

    ODS – It’s a motherfucker!

Obama checked out is the new wingnut narrative? As asinine as the rest.

If only the GOP were in the White House then we’d have some leaders that really know how to take care of business in Iraq & the Middle East.

As if its OK for Obama to do something stupid now because Bush did something stupid 12 years ago. Can we ever judge Obama’s performance in the here and now without referring to past presidents? Quite honestly who gives a shit what Bush/Clinton/Bush/Reagan/Carter/Ford/Nixon etc etc did. Its water over the proverbial dam. The cry of “my guy is no worse than your guy” is really getting old.

      • Dubya on August 10, 2014 at 3:27 pm

Earl I’ll give you Obama’s been pretty poor on foreign policy. Given the list of “recent” conservative POTUS’s I understand why you would want to dismiss past records especially where it comes to “America is now officially the world’s policeman”. Where it comes to Iraq the saying you broke it you bought it comes to mind.

        • Earl on August 11, 2014 at 9:15 am

Dub, As you can tell Im no Bush fan, but you have to admit Iraq was in better shape at the beginning of Obama’s presidency than it is now. You broke it, you bought it is a great cliche, but regardless, its up to the current president to move the ball down the field. No president starts with a clean slate foreign policy wise. Each inherits what the previous president left. I can cite the sorry state of affairs under Carter and point to Reagan’s cold war victory and the crumbling of communism in Eastern Europe. He didnt whine incessantly about how bad Carter F’d things up. He got busy and engaged. Not like Obama who leads from the rear, which means he doesn’t lead at all. In, every aspect of foreign affairs, we are worse off now than when O took office. In view of how Putin has been bitch slapping O around lately, maybe he sould call the 80’s and ask to borrow that foreign policy for awhile…no?

Earl, now try your analysis again, but without the blaring ODS.

          • Dubya on August 12, 2014 at 3:09 am

No one is a Bush fan now/. Iraq was in better shape when there were over 100,000 troops on the ground suppressing them which was not maintainable. Obama did move the ball down the field by getting the US out of there instead of wasting billions foolishly trying to impose a system on the people there aren’t willing to fight for to maintain.

Regan was lucky he had Gorby who wanted peace and financial prosperity for Russians while Regan was spending like a drunken sailor on Star Wars. Carter is probably one of the biggest douches of a POTUS the USA has ever had. His peanut brain is sickening but at least he didn’t sell weapons to Iran.

Putin has been bitch slapping everyone. Ultimately Russia will and currently is paying the price of his own foreign policy failures due his super inflated ego.

If you are honest, though, you have to admit that by the time Obama took over, Iraq was on a glide path to stability. He and Biden said so themselves.

The foreign policy of “President Golf-pants” has unraveled to the the point where he is being slapped around by Sen Feinstein (D-CA).
      http://thehill.com/homenews/administration/214726-feinstein-squares-off-with-obama
Feinstein suggested this month that Obama should pay more attention to unfolding international crises when asked about his busy fundraising and political schedule

“This is a very hard time,” she said on MSNBC. “I’m not going to tell the president what to do, but I think the world would very much respect his increased attention on this matter, and I think there ought to be increased attention.”

        Speaking of President Golfpants…
        http://www.ijreview.com/2014/08/166764-obama-vacations-flashback-2008/
“You have to understand that if you seek that office, then you have to be prepared to give your life to it. Essentially, the bargain that I think every President strikes with the American people is, ‘you give me this office, then in turn my fears, doubts, insecurities, foibles, need for sleep, family life, vacations, leisure, is gone. I am giving myself to you.’”

“Great nations need organizing principles,” she said in the roughly 8,000-word interview released Sunday. “And ‘don’t do stupid stuff’ is not an organizing principle.”

Also, this quote from a Politico article “In an interview with The Atlantic, she also rejected the core of Obama’s self-described foreign policy doctrine”

The sad thing about ODS is that the afflicted are unable to see that they are ravaged by ODS.

      Same with stupidity.

      ODS plus Stupidity?

      That would be Jim.

      • Jim,MtnView,Ca,USA on August 11, 2014 at 8:17 pm

Ken, do you notice that quoting prominent Dem office holders like Hill Clinton and Sen Dianne Feinstein now qualifies as “ODS”.

” do you notice that quoting prominent Dem office holders like Hill Clinton and Sen Dianne Feinstein now qualifies as “ODS”.”

“ODS” is the trolls answer to all of Mr. Golf-pants shortcomings.

I gather the standard response “It’s all Bush’s fault” is getting a bit long in the tooth.

“I gather the standard response “It’s all Bush’s fault” is getting a bit long in the tooth.”

            That’s a relief, at least.

You know, I recall working out at a public gym back in those days. There was a big screen instead of individual small video screens for each machine. A news report came on and Geo W Bush’s face was displayed. There was a guy who started shouting out angry words and stuff. Complete and total loss of control in public.

Our trolls can get all pouty about “ODS” but I’ll wager none of them have seen the kind of stuff that went on during the Bush Admin.

          • Jake on August 12, 2014 at 11:50 am

For anyone keeping count, the Gangster Gov’t continues full steam ahead.
    http://thehill.com/blogs/pundits-blog/the-administration/214864-more-lost-emails-when-will-democrats-have-enough
Twenty different Obama administration officials have lost or destroyed a portion of their email traffic. Email traffic that was, in some cases, under subpoena or in others requested as part of a larger inquiry into the conduct of the executive branch.

House Committee on Oversight Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) expressed his frustration at the revelation that another Obama official, Marilyn Tavenner, the director of the Center for Medicare Services, deleted emails in the wake of the botched Healthcare.gov website roll out, stating, “It defies logic that so many senior Administration officials were found to have ignored federal recordkeeping requirements only after Congress asked to see their e-mails…”

Yet another ODS sufferer: liberal pro-Dem reporter Dana Milbank.

President Obama must really be teed off.

Hillary Rodham Clinton, his once-loyal secretary of state and his likeliest successor, has gone rogue, criticizing his foreign policy as too timid.

Obama responded with not one but two rounds of golf.

    • Jim,MtnViewCA,USA on August 12, 2014 at 3:35 pm

So, seriously, with Hill, Feinstein and Milbank dumping on President Golfpants, is that evidence that Dems in general have noticed we have an empty suit as President, or are Dems beginning to pivot away from Obama to Clinton in anticipation of the 2016 Presidential election?

    • Jake on August 12, 2014 at 5:08 pm

Lol…Milbank. At least you didn’t call him ultra-liberal. And another “liberal media” link.

To be clear, criticizing Obama doesn’t mean ODS. Your criticisms, however, signify full-blown ODS.
