In 2012, 46,325 people had voted early at the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections at this point. This year, it’s 39,975, a drop of 14 percent. With only two more days of early voting left, the final early voting tally will probably be 14 percent short of the final early voting tally in 2008.
Obama won Ohio by just 4.6 percent in 2008. His 245,467-vote margin in Cuyahoga made up for his shortfall in the rest of the state, allowing him to win Ohio by just over 200,000 votes. Much of his margin in Cuyahoga came from the 265,736 people who voted early in that county.
