A Third/Final Iraq Tour of Duty

By Oak Leaf ~ April 16th, 2007 @ 11:05 am

Jesus Solorio was awarded a Purple Heart for the following injuries during his first tour in Iraq:

“He got shot through the cheek and shattered his jaw. He didn’t have any teeth.”

Despite receiving such injuries, he would return to Iraq a second tour and be awarded a second Purple Heart:

shrapnel from a roadside bomb struck his hand.

There will not be a fourth tour for Jesus Solorio as he was killed last week on his third tour leaving behind a wife and young child.

I have served two voluntary tours in SW Asia since 9/11. This is why I personally could not ask another man to do a third tour. I can not ask another man to do involuntarily what I would not voluntarily do.

May his wife and young child be blessed for their loss.
