Obviously Mitt Romney. That ruffian Mr.Gingrich is supported by the Tea Party.

Of course Mitt Romney. Who do you think has been managing his blind trust?

Mitt taught me everything I know. Of course Mitt Romney.

Someone once said “Politics make strange bedfellows.” That is certainly true here in Florida, especially when one is talking about this race and illegal immigration (which I consider to the be most pressing issue in this country). Here you have all those amnesty-loving RINOS I have always detested (Crist, Jeb Bush, even Rubio who screwed Floridians over the entire time he was in the legislature here, Connie Mack, and others) endorsing the only major candidate, Republican or Democrat, in decades, who has had the nerve, the temerity, to make a high profile suggestion that 11 million out-of-work Americans are more important than 11 million illegal alien grandmas who may be “rounded up and deported” (which they wouldn’t be in any event).

And on the other side you have the Tea Party types banging the drum for Gingrich, who wants to just about give the country away to tens of millions of illegal aliens with grade school educations (who reproduce much faster than U.S. citizens and will eventually control the political process).

What is it about this issue that makes it okay for “conservatives” to support a candidate so in the bag for illegals? This is an issue which should be overwhelmingly pushed and discussed by them. The rule of law, the idea that a country is sovereign and controls its borders, not has them controlled by outsiders. And once you give in to the outsiders, you have lost control of your borders forever. It’s so simple. I just don’t get why so many people think it is side issue that doesn’t matter. It changes our country every day for the worse.

Really, I have to give Romney credit, whatever other RINO issues he may be wrong on, for actually understanding, actually considering the situations of U.S. citizens harmed by this creeping monster, actually “getting it” that illegal immigration is wrong. And I am praying that he does not waver and give in to the other side.

Because I’m not so sure Boehner & Co. will be there holding his feet to the fire. Boehner has been ridiculous on the issue as NumbersUSA has pointed out. He hasn’t introduced one issue on the floor of the House which would in any way control illegal immigration.

    >And I am praying that he does not waver and give in to the other side.

You’ve got the prayer wrong. Romney is already on the other side. He is lying about the issue because that’s where he knows the Republican electorate is. You have to pray he follows through on his lie and gives Republicans what they want, despite no insistence from the other branches of government.

Mitt Romney is the finest candidate this party has had since Charles Evans Hughes.

Mitt wins today and then heads to the much friendlier Western states where he will probably wrap up the nomination in a few weeks. The real question is who he chooses as his running mate. I am betting its Rick Santorum

I loved the “RINO crapweasel” choice in the poll :)
    Nice sense of humor.
But there is another possibility. I remember reading that Ben Franklin used to write letters to the editor (to his own newspaper) under various pen names, just to stir controversy. It made the paper more successful and triggered others to write letters.

Maybe our anonymous unRINO is actually Poli in disguise! Ask yourself–have you ever seen the two of them together at the same time?

  9. itsagreatcountry on January 31, 2012 at 8:15 am

Gee, MikeN, it’s so nice to see that we have such an Almighty presence on this board who really knows what is in the head of someone he doesn’t even know well. Or maybe you do. I’m betting you just have something against Romney, maybe his religion or something else, and this is clouding your thinking. Because everyone who is running is a RINO by someone’s definition.

Jim, I like your comment. The Ben Franklin scenario would really be a riot. At least we have a new word in our dictionary: crapweasel.

”It made the paper more successful and triggered others to write letters. Maybe our anonymous unRINO is actually Poli in disguise!”

Problem with your theory is that Franklin made his paper more successful while this blog has been swirling the drain for a long time. It’s time for the final flush!

    Yah, sure, whatever.
Off topic, does anyone know where the term-of-endearment “crapweasel” comes from? Here is my guess–

  12. itsagreatcountry on January 31, 2012 at 12:26 pm

Jim, that was too funny — and incredibly fitting. Both my husband (who is also named Jim) and I had a big laugh over it. How’d you ever find something about both a weasel and, well, crap? It’s been a long time since I’ve read a Dave Barry column and it’s good to see that some things don’t change. He’s as hilarious as ever.

  13. MikeN on January 31, 2012 at 12:49 pm

Nope, nothing against Romney, except that I think he is not a good campaigner. This is the guy who when appearing before a black audience, opened with ‘Who let the dogs out’

And his flip-flops that were very convenient to his audience at the time.

Neither of those is relevant to the point I was making. Romney on the issue of immigration said that he was taking advice from Jeb Bush and Lindsey Graham. He is obviously part of the Wall Street Journal wing of the paper, and they are always issuing editorials to open the border.

  14. Jim,MtnViewCA,USA on January 31, 2012 at 1:20 pm

“How’d you ever find something about both a weasel and, well, crap?”
Let’s just say that, once read, Dave Barry’s article is hard to expunge from one’s brain cells. And if you have a general recollection, “google is your friend” and voila the link is retrieved.

Dang, I’m starting to miss anon-UN-rino….is he taking the day off or something?

  15. anonymous un-RINO on January 31, 2012 at 1:47 pm

It’s election day. The guns have to go silent.

Well ok, not really. Willard is a forever crapweasel. ;-)

The guns have to go silent.

Even if it is just your pop gun.

  17. Palm Estates Retirement Community Front Desk on January 31, 2012 at 2:28 pm

Mr. anonymous un-RINO has been seen all day here at Palm Estates. He usually is seen at least walking out to the beach with his metal detector.

We think that he is out berating at the caucus sites, shouting his usual, “Crapweasel RINO! Crapweasel RINO! Crapweasel RINO! Crapweasel RINO! Crapweasel RINO! Crapweasel RINO! Crapweasel RINO! Crapweasel RINO! Crapweasel RINO! Crapweasel RINO!”

  18. Palm Estates Retirement Community Front Desk on January 31, 2012 at 2:29 pm

We apologize, we meant to say that Mr. anonymous un-RINO has NOT been seen here all day, it has been all peace and quiet.

  19. MikeN on January 31, 2012 at 2:32 pm

You have the poll choices all wrong. It should be how many delegates will Romney get in Florida? Zero, that lying crapweasel won’t win.
    50, Romney wins the state.
45-50 Paul forces steal some delegates.
26-45. Paul forces make a major infiltration into Romney campaign.
0-25 Paul forces stage a coup detat and steal the nomination.

  20. Tony Montana on January 31, 2012 at 4:04 pm

    Mitt is a great guy.

  21. Gerry Owen on January 31, 2012 at 4:19 pm

    Remember-

    Newt is more electable.
    Why?
    Because Newt SAYS HE IS.

  22. Ron Paul on February 1, 2012 at 10:02 am

    Aw shucks!

Now I’m a 4 time LOSER who lost even more of the kooks who supported me

I sure hope that the truly obedient paulbot drones like un-RINO don’t leave me
