The DREAM Is Dead!

December 1, 2010

All 42 Senate Republican senators have pledged to filibuster it in the lame duck session, along with the DADT repeal, and any other bills not related to taxes and spending.

Here’s the letter, signed by all Republican senators.

    RED FLAG ALERT

Notice first sentence of second para. They will not support cloture UNTIL such and such happens. Smells like a rat trap to me. The implication being that if they get the bush cut extension, they may cave on the rest. Excuse me for being paranoid, but i don’t trust these bastids for a second.

I agree with the above commenter. Dems and leftists want power and will bargain in anyway to get it. Country Clubbers want tax cuts and will do the same. This could be a double cross by the dirty scum of the country club. We end of up giving them more control for a few tax cuts that will be released when the left finally takes over by flooding the country with illegals and giving them benefits and then citizenship and the vote. They will remember who takes care of them. But will we remember who “took care of us”.

Comments about the won on Krugman’s blog as it relates to the federal pay freeze:

This really put it over the edge for me. I severed my ties to the Obama organization because of the sheer cravenness of the pay freeze. It’s

    And,

Going forward the President will go from merely ignoring his base and the values of his own party to positively rejecting both. Welcome to the third term of the W Bush administration. Obama has quite simply become dangerous to political and economic progress.

    And,

Now’s the time to pick a candidate to run against Obama in the 2012 primaries and, if that doesn’t work, as a third party candidate in the 2012 general election.

    And,

He really is trying to be the Worst President Ever.

Well Poli, that didn’t last long:

As you may have heard, Mitch McConnell sent a letter to Harry Reid today insisting that all GOP Senators will block all Dem initiatives until the standoffs over the Bush tax cuts and funding the government are resolved. The letter, which is signed by all 42 GOP Senators, is being widely interpreted to mean that he’s maintained lockstep GOP unity against repealing Don’t Ask Don’t Tell before the GOP gets its way on the tax cuts.

But I’m not sure how seriously we should take this. A spokesman for Senator Susan Collins confirms to me that she could still vote for cloture for the Defense Authorization Bill containing repeal of DADT if ample time is alloted for floor debate and amendments. The spox confirms that she could do this even if there’s not yet any resolution over the Bush tax cuts — in direct contradiction of McConnell’s letter.

McConnell has no control over these spineless cowards.

All this could go away if the current outdated Filibuster rules that the GOP have abused horrendously are changed:

    POOF!

Warner, dear, the Demoncraps won’t change the rule because they know they will be completely out of power after noon on January 29, 2013 and the only tool they will have left will be the filibuster. If you read it in the Washington Post, you know it’s wrong–sprt of like your posts, dear.

if the current outdated Filibuster rules

    I love that.

Isn’t it funny you weren’t saying that in 2005?

Why do you think that is?

  12. Jay on December 1, 2010 at 11:10 am

“In the last election, voters said, ‘Please work together.’ I think they’re going to move next to profanities,” said Sen. Mark Udall (Colo.), a member of the Class of 2008.

Actually, the voters said no such thing.

I don’t want Mark Udall to “work with” Osama Obama. I want a repeal of Obamacare then gridlock.

The government has tried to “help” enough.

  13. unclefred on December 1, 2010 at 11:25 am

    Sorry Warner – won’t happen.

If the dems still controlled or even were close to control in the House, perhaps the dems in the Senate would be stupid enough to end Filibusters. With overwhelming control of the house in republican hands, Senate dems will not do something that will crush them in 2012 should they lose control (which odds are they will).

  14. Warner on December 1, 2010 at 11:43 am

LOL…changing the rule now will HELP their re-election effort in 2012, not hurt it…as will anything that prevents the GOP from continuing to wreck government and blame it on Dems.

While their pickle puffing constituents are bloviating,
The political peckerwoods are prevaricating ,
The salad tossers are all aquiver,
As the DADT vote is hanging by a sliver,
As the dim leadership is busy masturbating.

  16. phineas gage on December 1, 2010 at 1:09 pm

    ‘continuing to wreck government ‘

    May it continue thusly.

To paraphrase one of Warner’s favorites, let a thousand sledgehammers fall.

  17. phineas gage on December 1, 2010 at 1:14 pm

There is nothing wrong with gridlock–the structure of the American government was designed by the Founders specifically to slow it down and incur gridlock. They knew that the more government does, the less good will come of it.

I think this is precisely why liberals hate the founding principles of the nation so intensely and are determined to corrupt them–it is because liberals continually want government to acquire power, and they are forced to use a mechanism that is designed to do just the opposite and make government do as little as possible.

  18. phineas gage on December 1, 2010 at 1:18 pm

I also suspect that if Obama tries for a reprise of the Clinton rope-a-dope strategy on government shutdown, it will backfire on him badly.

Part of that is because Obama is a political incompetent and a thuggish ideologue, not a skilled tactician like Clinton.

But also, this time around, the people very much want to see government curtailed, harnessed, and even shut down. They have begun to feel the direct intrusion of governments into their lives–only the smallest fraction of what the Left desires–and they want no more of it.

  19. phineas gage on December 1, 2010 at 1:27 pm

BTW, amnesty is not dead, far from it. The Left will never stop pushing it. They have the single-mindedness and tenacity of a bulldozer working on a tree stump. They followed the same approach on socialized medicine until they finally succeeded.

The Left doesn’t just have to be stopped–it must be annihilated into sub-atomic particles and the ground from which it grew salted and irradiated.

But, always remember that the Left is the political equivalent of a hive, with an insect organization and hierarchy. If the queen falls, the entire swarm dissipates in confusion.

Conservatism is just the opposite, a philosophy of individualism and freedom built from the roots up by people informing themselves and forming their own opinions. It is therefore in the long run much more powerful and durable, continusally able to renew itself in a way that liberalism–which relies on external validation–cannot.

“if the current outdated Filibuster rules”
    Warner

Funny how you weren’t calling the filibuster “outdated” when your libtard leaders were rejoicing in filibustering judge appointments.

Warner, you’ve embraced backward hypocrisy for so long now, that your senses have been completely dulled to the retarded idiocy that you post on this blog.

Nobody will ever take you seriously so long as you bathe in the filthy waters of hypocrisy. Go post your nonsense on DU with the rest of the hypocrite frauds.

P.Dillhole openly celebrates his blatant hypocrisy.

That’s no surprise, and just further demonstrates that liberals are the arrogant fools who are fully proving Romans 1:29-32:

“They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless.

Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.

It’s like Paul saw exactly what liberalism does to the human soul and wrote down the exact description of modern day liberal God-hating fools.

So go ahead P.Dillhole, keep celebrating your own destruction chump.
