Amnesty-supporting Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC):

“Birthright citizenship I think is a mistake, that we should change our Constitution and say if you come here illegally and you have a child, that child’s automatically not a citizen.”

Did he say “Change the Constitution”????

The hubris of these people is breathtaking. There’d be nothing left of our founding document if we let people like this on the Right have their way. All in a days work on his march to a corporate Oligarchy I guess.

I oppose “comprehensive” reform, because I am quite tired of passing this crap and the border never getting secured.
But if they DO get off their butts and do their job, secure the border- I may be willing to support some sort of path to a work visa, provided they have not committed any serious crimes and pay some sort of fine.

As for Path to citizenship? go home and apply the right way, like so many do already.

  3. factmensch

At least he’s proposing to amend the Constitution. Obama tramples all over it.

  4. bobo

Modifying an Amendment is different than changing the Constitution, IMO.

  5. Warner

“At least he’s proposing to amend the Constitution. Obama tramples all over it.”

I agree….Obama has done nothing to reverse the insidious and illegal domestic surveillance and police-state “anti-terrorism” laws that your men Bush and Cheney established. In fact he’s extended some of them. He’s also continuing to imprison people without formal charges and continuing two wars that are both expensive and damaging to our national security.

I can’t think of anything that he has initiated on his own, however, that can be classified as “trampling” the Constitution.

  6. MrX

that’s the most intelligent thing I’ve heard GrahAmnesty say …. but I am suspect this is just posturing for 2012.

But I support striking the “anchor baby” clause.

  7. factmensch

An Amendment is part of the Constitution. assuming it was ratified. I don’t know what is meant by modifying an amendment. Graham is talking about amending the Constitution, which would require ratification of an Amendment.

  8. factmensch

I suppose Obama’s violation of the right to privacy and not enforcing civil rights, among other things, doesn’t pose any Constitutional concerns to liberals.

  9. Warner

“I suppose Obama’s violation of the right to privacy”

    How so?

  10. The Ace

    BWAHAHAHAHA!

Did you have a paper bag over your head during the Bush administration? Did you have any “Constitutional concerns” then?

    Bozo.

Warner, I will give you one example. In the alleged stimulus bill, an electronic, central federal repository will be established for the storage of all medical records. Doctors, nurses, hospitals, clinics, etc. will be required to provide the information. As a result, citizens will no longer have control over access to their medical records. How’s that for an invaison of privacy? Here’s some feedback on your posting style — more profundity, less profanity: more lucidity, less vapidity.

  12. factmensch

Ace, I think you are hopelessly lost in the wilderness. I do think there is hope for Warner, though.

    Related,

Support for the building of a fence along the Mexican border has reached a new high, and voters are more confident than ever that illegal immigration can be stopped.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 68% of U.S. voters now believe the United States should continue to build a fence on the Mexican border.

    See you in November!

He has a new carrot he’s decided to dangle in front of right wingers to get a grand compromise.

    Weapons permit. Check.

    Xenophobia. Check.

    How are your hobgoblins, Ace?

  16. non-invalid

Obama has built much more of the fence than Bush did. We’re still in Iraq, Afghanistan, Gitmo is still open, Halliburton/KBR still getting no-bid contracts, Warrantless wiretaps still going on, Predator drones killing civilians, Government secrecy is expanding, jobs are still being lost, the economy is in the toilet, etc…

Yeah, he’s everything you leftwits said Bush was…

How’s that promise about publishing legislation for days before he signs it going?

  17. Bill Fabrizio

Lindsey, glad to see you are recovering from your lobotomy!

I think we should amend the Constitution to keep Wingnut or Teabagger children from being granted US citizenship automatically. First, they have to demonstrate loyalty to America and support for her founding Principles.

    Study up asshats.

  19. )))McMock(((®

    LMFAO! Damn straight!!!

That FRINGE 79% of the Wingnut Teabagging United Klan of Wingnutta MUST be stopped at ALL COSTS. The Babies ARE the EVIL seed!!!!

What was it that Black Panther Patriot was saying? Something about CRACKER babies. I think he was on to something. Brilliant PROGRESSIVE minds think alike!!!

Name three countries besides the USA where a baby born to foreign nationals, legal residents or not) is automatically a citizen?

    Hint: there aren’t any.

  21. The Ace

You are welcome to move to France, Mr. setnaffa.

Take your traitorous America hatred there.

    Please, I beg you.

    Bozo.

Overstepping: Part Two–Lame Ducks and Amnesty

You’ll never go broke betting on the treachery and deceitfulness of politicians.

We saw a classic example last week with the unemployment extension which Democrats could have passed on their own but instead insisted on a two-thirds vote rather than a simple majority in order to embarrass the Republicans three months before the elections.

It lost, as per the Dem plan.

Democrats seem to be plotting more treacherous shenanigans with regard to the amnesty for illegals issue, something Obama and his storm troopers would love to grant in order to garner millions more votes when amnesty is followed by citizenship. And what better time could there be to pull off that scam than during a lame duck session following November 2nd should the Democrats lose the House?

Charles Krauthammer suggests that ousted and retiring Dems, with nothing to lose and no backlash to face, could use those 2 1/2 months before the 112th congress convenes in January to foist all kinds of ideologically controversial laws on the American people before they vacate the premises . . .
