House Votes for Obamacare?

By PoliPundit ~ March 4th, 2010 @ 8:37 am

UPDATE: The WSJ lists the potential votes of every Congressmen. My post below.

In November, Nancy Pelosi managed to ram Obamacare through the House by a vote of 220 – 215.

Of those 220, the following Congressmen will not vote for the Senate bill:

John Murtha (D-PA), who passed away.

Robert Wexler (D-CA), who retired.

Neil Abercrombie (D-CA), who resigned to run for governor.

Joseph Cao (R-LA), who wants the Stupak anti-abortion Amendment instead of the Senate version.

Bart Stupak (D-MI), ditto.

Jim Oberstar, ditto.

That’s at least 6 votes that have flipped to No. And more who’re making similar noises.

It’s going to be awfully difficult for Pelosi to make up for that. Retiring Democrats like John Danner and Brian Baird are still a tough sell; so I can hardly imagine why a Democrat who’s actually running for office in 2010 would switch to Yes.

And, if Pelosi somehow manages to arm-twist enough Democrats into voting for Obamacare, she’ll have even bigger problems defending her majority in November.

This is going to be fun!

    You are sooo right-
I still can’t get over the lede in the MSM earlier this week about the “9 dems who had voted NO that may now vote YES”.
Why are they ignoring the 20 or so dems who voted YES but are now seriously looking at NO?

  2. swift boater

    my dear Gerry,

surely you jest. I am sure that is just a rhetorical question.

“I still can’t get over the lede in the MSM earlier this week about…”

The lede in “the MSM”??? Is this a new news organization? Or are you summarizing your vast knowledge of information presented on this topic by all news organizations in the past few weeks?

Now tell us, which “MSM” news sources did you PERSONALLY monitor to arrive at this conclusion (why do I have the feeling we’re gonna get a Palin-ized response to this…”oh, you know, all of them….”)?

Try to stay on topic, Warner. How is she going to make up the votes?

  5. Warner

If it bores you, spike, there’s no need to pay any attention to my efforts to expose Gerry.

  6. Gerry Owen

    Ah Warner, you silly putz..
Just AP, Politico, Fox News, MSNBC, CNN, CBS News and the New York Times. They all carried the same story early this week, and those were the ones I saw.

If I am “Exposed”, it would be my fat Butt mooning you.

  7. Warner

Nice image, Gerry, and exactly the one that comes to mind when I read your posts (which consist entirely of the product of said anatomical region).

    Then pucker up, buttercup!

Does anyone know when Deal (R-GA) steps down? I know he is resigning, that is one in our favor we have to make up. Does the Gov there get to appoint a replacement?

  10. Gerry Owen

….okay, welll there is my answer answer on the WSJ link… Thanks Poli!

    Per Jamie Dupree:
Rep Nathan Deal (R-GA) changes his mind, and will stay in Congress through March for health care debate/vote
    Hope he’s right.

Interesting Discussion over at Ace of Spades (yes, I am one of the Morons)
Charlie Cook is fast becoming convinced that the Dems have grossly miscalculated, and will lose the house this November. As a result, an increasingly unpopular Pelosi will probably not even retain Minority leader status- She is a lame duck. she may not now have the clout to actually successfully armtwist her way across the finish line. After all, what is six months in the wilderness vs out of a job come November?

Ron Paul did receive an SRLC this year. However, they just granted him a late notice invitation to speak in Louisiana.

That means C4L and YAL will have a hard time organizing to defeat Palin, Huckster, Romney etc in short notice, but there is a good chance it can still be done.

    Um….
Ron Paul fits into discussion of Dems rounding up Healthcare votes..
    How?

it is just amazing watching the Dems keeping a health care bill, that no one wants, in the forefront of the news everday. Its like they have a gun to their own head and they keep saying “if the rest of you don’t fall in line we are going to commit suicide”-Go for it!!! Its not going to pass, every day is a day closer to the incumbents having to deal with primaries and the general election. Keep pushing the date back maybe you tards can vote on it about a week before the election.

    Delahunt to retire.

    heh

  18. Gerry Owen

Just saw that Artist, that makes 18 retirements.
His seat is one of the few that republicans have an outside shot of picking up in MA. If we do, it will be a squishy, soft in the middle, piss me off half the time kind of R I am sure, but after this nightmarish congress I would take it.
