What Would a Brown Win Mean?

Dick Morris:

Beyond a pleasing sight for the heart, what would Ted Kennedy’s seat going Republican really mean?

A lot.

First, there would be the psychological effect. On Democratic donors — it would discourage them from opening their checkbooks. On Republican donors — the impact would be electric in kindling their interest and generosity. On Democratic incumbents seeking re-election — it would make the beaches and golf courses that await them in their Florida retirement homes (and the lucrative lobbying jobs in Washington) infinitely more attractive. On Republicans considering running for the House and the Senate — it will help them see the truth: That their time is at hand! (It might even help our esteemed Party Chairman Michael Steele, realize that we can capture both houses this year!)

But in the Senate itself, it would really signal the end of Obama’s legislative dominance. He’ll probably be able to pass health care either by Democratic dithering in certifying Brown’s election or by ramming through the bill while he’s en route to Washington on the shuttle.

But, beyond that, the prospects of getting 60 votes on the remaining items in Obama’s legislative agenda: cap and trade, union card check, and immigration reform would slip away with the Massachusetts result.

Where are all of my fellow sock puppets today, posting in favor of the Cosmo centerfold candidate?

If Dick Morris likes the centerfold candidate, then all us right wingers should like the Cosmo candidate.

    [And...ACTION!]

    “Vote for me!”

“I’m from Massachusettes, I’ve endeared myself to Curt Schilling and other NY Yankees, and doggone it, I’m gonna keep MLK’s dream alive….”

    [And...CUT! That's a wrap...]

Marcia, “There…is it vacation time yet?”

I don’t think Morris is right about the probability of Obamacare going thru if tomorrow is a wipe out for the Democraps. I think it will be dead as a door nail.

nah, they’ll pass the Senate bill, or break the rules and go the recon route.

The Dems are going to be buried for a generation for this, but they are going for full Kamikazi points……

They are breaking the country apart, but they don’t care.

I thought the Rs would do this, with amnesty back in 2007, just take the whole country and toss in into the fire….

They walked up to the edge and stepped back.

The Dems are shutting their eyes and jumping. Flame on….

RWY, that’s ghazi, not kamikaze… they’re the political equivalent of the pantybomber…

Many Dems are waking up to the reality that the public HATES their health care plans. They are also starting to realize that there is no way they can take control of the medical establishment, and NOT f*ck it up. Their dream of eternal power will completely backfire, as THEY receive 100% of the blame when it all goes bad.

If they win in Mass., they doom themselves to continuing this process, and that is sheer political suicide.

If they loose, they can scuttle the health care plan and blame the Republicans (their FAVORITE game). As a side benefit, they outrage and stoke up their base – bringing in more campaign contributions. If they wrap it up soon, there is more than enough time for them to count on the short memory of the electorate to NOT hold the entire mess against them in November.

It also “preserves the issue” for another day.

    - “They are also starting to realize that there is no way they can take control of the medical establishment, and NOT f*ck it up.” – It’s already f*cked up. Look around, we pay twice as much as the rest of the industrialized world for health care that’s mediocre by comparison. And it goes up 8% a year. How long do you think you’re employer is going to keep paying it for you at that rate?

    - I agree with you, in a lot of ways it will be better for the dems if they lose MA- now they get cover because the repubs will filbuster every initiative and that’ll take the heat off them from the left. You gotta wonder if the repubs can get away with saying no for the next three years. I’d think that the repubs will eventually have to come to the table or risk the embarassment of voting no against bills like the anti-rape one.

    - BTW – wasn’t Morris predicting that the dems would drop health care when the popularity went below 50%? That happened a while ago. Why does anybody listen to him?
