Jefferson Davis was a Democrat Senator from South Carolina and lead the rebellious CSA who fought to keep blacks as slaves. After Davis was captured May 10, 1865, he was charged with treason, though not tried, and stripped of his eligibility to run for public office. This limitation was posthumously removed by order of Congress and President Jimmy Carter (a Democrat from Georgia) in 1978, 89 years after his death.
Robert Byrd is a Democrat Senator from West Virginia. He once wrote “I shall never fight in the armed forces with a Negro by my side… Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds.”
Bill Clinton, the former Democrat President, was awarded a Rhodes Scholarship due to his outstanding scholastic abilities. Clinton, once lauded as “the first Black President” studied at Oxford. What is not often mentioned is that Cecil Rhodes, the founder of Apartheid in South Africa, initially funded the scholarship to ensure the supremacy of the Anglo-Saxon race.
Democrats continue to sell the idea that Black in America cannot succeed without help from Whitey.
And their newpapers continue to trumpet the lie that they are the party that cares for minorities.
Just like the plantation owners cared for their slaves, is what they really mean.

Racism does not respect political boundaries. Everyone recognizes that. There are Republican Racists and Democratic Racists, conservative and liberal.
Racism can also take many different forms. Insensitive comments. Discriminatory actions. Illegal behavior. Segregation.

I personally don’t believe Reid is racist, I don’t think Trent Lott nor George Allen were racsits either. But that isn’t the point of the current discussion and you are smart enough to know that.
The point is the left has a long history of using individual comments, like Lott’s toast to Strom Thurmond or Allens “macaca” comment and then skewering the person as a prejudiced bigot/racist. But those same lefties are VERY forgiving when the comments come from one who has a (D) after their name.

Sen. Diane Feinstein of California said Mr. Reid should not resign, and defended his remark as just a “mistake.”
