Defending the NRCC

By PoliPundit ~ October 31st, 2009 @ 5:53 pm

Many on the right seem to think the NRCC is evil for having backed Dede Scozzafava. I disagree.

The NRCC had little choice in the matter. 11 Republican County Leaders settled on Scozzafava.

At that point, the Republican establishment could either have sat back and let the Democrat win, or supported a Republican who would vote for John Boehner as speaker. They did the latter.

When it became obvious that Doug Hoffman had a lot of conservative energy behind him, the GOP establishment did not spend its ad dollars on attacking Hoffman. Instead they went after Democrat Bill Owens.

Finally, when it became clear that Scozzafava had no chance of winning, she dropped out, and the GOP establishment switched its support to Hoffman.

I cannot think of a better way that the NRCC and RNC could have handled this situation. I, for one, would have done exactly what they did.

I don’t post here since oakleaf went off the deep end. But redstate had a link to an article that purported that the selection process was rigged and manipulated by individuals from the rncc and former chair Tom Reynolds….. So, your premise would be incorrect poli

    “Link to the report”

***NRCC eCampaign Director John Randall with a response. The NRCC denies the report***

    Nice try, tho.

I don’t really care what the NRCC does, but it does matter what conservatives do, and no conservative should have supported a kooky leftist like Scuzzywildebeast. In such cases, conservatives either have to support a conservative candidate if present, or remain silent if a conservative is absent, and just let the race play out as it will. Principles matter, and they matter FAR more than a little “R”.

I have to disagree with allo due respect. The NRCC should have seen how radical and liberal she was,and simply stayed out. On the other hand,I don’t think they rigged it for her either. Some massive ego’s at Redstate too. instead of moving foreward and trying to ensure victory for Hoffman,McDonnell and Christie he is still obsessed with purging people. Not a lot different in some ways to Frum.

The RNCC has no business supporting Pro-Infanticide, Pro-Illegal Immigrant, or Pro-ObamaCare candidates. Period. No one votes for libtard-lite candidates. I would have thought that Bob Dole and John McCain taught them something. Apparently not.

Until they wake up and smell the coffee, I’m sending my pitifully small political donations to Project Valour IT and the Grayson County Homeless Shelter…

Read the report… would you expect anything but the to deny it? The report qoutes 2 sources that independantly verfied the information in it.

And of course the latest news coming out is that after dropping out of the race, Dede has formally endorsed her DEMOCRATIC opponent. Nice payback, Dede, for all the money that the Republican Party pumped into your campaign!

Not to mention, of course, nice selection, Republicans! Choosing someone to run for an open Congressional seat that endorses her Democratic opponent!

    Idiots, all.
