Punishing Success

By PoliPundit ~ October 23rd, 2009 @ 11:29 am

The White House is punishing Fox News for… being ahead of the Old York Times:

The spur: Executives at other news organizations, including The New York Times, had publicly said that their newsrooms had not been fast enough in following stories that Fox News, to the administration’s chagrin, had been heavily covering through the summer and early fall — namely, past statements and affiliations of the White House adviser Van Jones that ultimately led to his resignation and questions surrounding the community activist group Acorn.

Fox “News”, what a hoot. You know that the President of Fox News is Roger Ailes, media consultant for Nixon, Reagan, and Bush. He is being urged to run for President in 2012 on the GOP ticket.

What a hilarious fiction that he runs a non-partisan news network. And what fake sanctimony from the right when Fox “News” is called on their game.

  2. Pluto

It would be like James Carville running a news network.

But don’t think about it too much, it would destroy your fiction.

  3. PoliPundit

It would be like George Stephanopoulos or Tim Russert hosting a Sunday morning news show… Or the Old York Times, which hasn’t endorsed a Republican for president since Dwight Eisenhower.

  4. Let's Not Mention That

*sigh* If only all networks and reporters were open about their partisanship.

  5. Marvin the Martian

“What a hilarious fiction that he runs a non-partisan news network.”

You aren’t suggesting that MSNBC, CNN, the big three, etc. by contrast are “non-partisan” are you?

    Now THAT would be hilarious.

  6. MikeyW

George Stephanopoulos is president of ABC? When did that happen? Maybe your comparison is inappropriate.

  7. Pluto

You aren’t suggesting that MSNBC, CNN, the big three, etc. by contrast are “non-partisan” are you?

Let me say it again, Fox News is run by Roger Ailes, a GOP media consultant. Fox News is GOP media.

    Pluto,
I don’t like Fox News network either…ever since they kicked Paul out of that NH debate that network has really gotten on my nerves.

This is an interesting interview with Anti-war editor in chief Justin Raimondo. He talks about the chaos within the GOP, about an argument he had with Medea Benjamin (code pink leader) during the Kerry campaign and about Reason Magazine funders.

The guy who interviews him is a little bit…corny but whatever it’s still good content

Interview with Justin Raimondo part 1 and part 2 and Part 3

“The one thing that makes me sad is that if Murray Rothbard had been alive today, he would have really enjoyed this tremendously because this is precisely the type of populist movement that he envisioned. And of now, there is tremendous ideological turmoil on the American Right. These people have been brought to the brink of disaster by the Neocons, and they’re sitting there looking at the smoldering wreckage of the GOP wondering where do we go from here? And of course this is great because of course we have the answer, and we’re the only organized ideological grouping in the GOP and outside of really on the American Right that has an organization and of course has a Youth Organization so it really heartens me to see that YAW is such a success. So the Libertarian movement has always been disorganized but now we have C4L and YAW to organize.”-Justin Raimondo

And the rest of the MSM is DNC media.

  10. Budahmon

    Hell,
NBC owned and operated for profit by GE (which has a big stake in the Bambi Administration due to Crap-N-Tax….) got money under TARP…. Guess what? Their executives didn’t have to worry about Bambi’s underlings taxing their bonuses. Why? Because they give good head…lines…..and this is the way FASCISM is supposed to work!

Bias is one thing, blatantly lying and creating conspiracy theories is something else.

But then again, who really gives a crap about FOX news anyway? They play to the Republicant base and no one else. Not like Democrats or Independents are watching the insane ramblings of Beck, Hannity or O’Reilly.

  13. artist

It would be like having Gwen Ifil on the Pres debate panel.

    Oh, wait…

    …..

    Nice non-answer.

90% of journos voted for Clinton over Bush.

I bet it was higher for Ogabe.

Dozens of media employees have left their orgs and joined Ogabe’s admin since his election.

    You don’t have a “point”.

  15. artist

Bias is one thing, blatantly lying and creating conspiracy theories is something else

    ….

You mean like MSNBC, NYT, CBS, WAPO, LATIMES, CNN…?

  16. Mike

“It would be like having Gwen Ifil on the Pres debate panel.

    Oh, wait…”

You mean the VP debate? Rewriting history gets tricky, huh?

    ……..

I agree with you totally. Damn MSNBC, CNN, and ESPN for those false quotes attributed to Rush Limbaugh.

  18. Mike

I’ll take your false Rush quotes and raise you a “terrorist fist jab.”

  19. RoBear

No worries, mate. Obama will destroy those evil right wingers like Big Fox, Big Business, Big Insurance, Big Pharma, Big Oil, Big Media, Big Doctors, Big Hospitals, Big Transportation, and, of course, Big Fatsos. Obama has them right where he wants them. Really. He does.

  20. )))McRock(((

“90% of journos voted for Clinton over Bush”

Now is that a fact, ottist? Can you tell me what your sources are for this information (if you need to consult a neuroanatomy…or proctology…textbook to answer this, feel free).

  21. )))McRock(((

“The White House is punishing Fox News.”

The poor babies. Now how bad was this “punishment” that you speak of? Could it have been any worse than the threat of legal action or spying on journalists like your hero George W. Bush did?

I feel bad for poor poor Fox Broadcasting, I really do. They’ve had so good for so long, and now finally they’re bullshit is being called out by no less than the POTUS! LMFAO!!!

  22. )))McRock(((

“And the rest of the MSM is DNC media.”

Yep, that’s why the’re all siding with Fox, buttcrack.

Listen, dude. Life here on Earth is a lot different than your planet…maybe you should go home and study up a bit and come back to us in a decade or two and let us know how it all went.

  23. spike

Here it is Mc Rock-simple google and you’ll get a couple of hundred hits saying the same thing, moron. Can’t believe I’m arguing with someone who knows so little and says it so authoritatively.

    “Washington Bureau Chiefs and Correspondents

In April 1996, the Freedom Forum published a report by Chicago Tribune writer Elaine Povich titled, “Partners and Adversaries: The Contentious Connection Between Congress and the Media.” Buried in Appendix D was the real news for those concerned about media bias: Based on the 139 Washington bureau chiefs and congressional correspondents who returned the Freedom Forum questionnaire, the Washington-based reporters — by an incredible margin of nine-to-one — overwhelmingly cast their presidential ballots in 1992 for Democrat Bill Clinton over Republican incumbent George Bush.

    KEY FINDINGS:
89 percent of Washington-based reporters said they voted for Bill Clinton in 1992. Only seven percent voted for George Bush, with two percent choosing Ross Perot”

  24. spike

That 89% to 7% split is such an accepted part of the political vanacular that even Chris Matthews had shows on it in the 1990′s. What, are you Lithuanian or something? Geeze……I know it’s a habit for you, McRock, but you should really think before speaking. I mean, listen to your last 2 quotes……
“if you need to consult a neuroanatomy…or proctology…textbook to answer this, feel free.”…”maybe you should go home and study up a bit”.

You get owned every time you open your month and you still come back sounding like Reverend Al.

  25. MikeyW

“That 89% to 7% split is such an accepted part of the political vanacular that even Chris Matthews had shows on it in the 1990’s. ” – So what? How do their editors vote? How do the newspaper owners vote? Do you think the papers print exactly what the writers write? FOX has already gone to court to sue for the right to lie – that’s right lie, so that they can force the two of their writers to change their articles so that it would favor a sponsor.

  26. spike

Artist posted a well documented poll result and McRock used three posts to call him a liar. As usual, your butt boy was talking smack and, as usual, had no idea what he was talking about. As far as your changing the subject……….I don’t know how editors vote. Why don’t you conduct a poll? Otherwise it is just speculation on your part.

  27. invalid10

I won’t waste time feeling sorry for the Fox Noise network.

I hate that network more than the others.

Don’t confuse McRock with the facts. Unless it comes from Obermann, Matthews or Maddow, he isn’t aware.

It must be weird living in a world that revolves around Ron Paul.

  30. Marvin the Martian

Yep, that’s why the’re all siding with Fox, buttcrack.

All this proves is that the MSM is more concerned about the precedent being set by Obama. They know that a future Republican administration will now be able to say the NYT, MSNBC, etc are merely shills for the DNC and then blackball them thanks to the Obama precedent.

    As for the “buttcrack” crack…

I will not join in your juvenile vitriol.

  31. PSGInfinity

My my, the trolls got fired up didn’t they?

Let me put it baldly: you liberals are mad because Fox makes it nigh impossible to ignore an inconvenient Truth. You are at war with the Truth. Fox destroys the unanimity needed to deny inconvenient truth. So, Fox must be destroyed.

The sad thing is, this truth won’t enter your soul until you have your ‘Road to Damascus’ moment…
