He really speaks poorly without that ol’ teleprompter. I noticed there wasn’t any clapping or cheering either for his scolding of Americans for not being bilingual.
How did he get elected? It just boggles the mind that a liberal like McLame got beat by him.

invalid10, if I had the resources to do so, I could guarantee that GWBush could speak much more Spanish than Barack ever could.
2 reasons:
He’s is Texas, known for having a huge Spanish American and illegal alien population.
Did he not have a maid that the left claimed was an illegal alien at one time?
When you get submerged into a culture where a different language is spoken, you tend to learn a few words here and there. And Bush has spent much more time in the Spanish culture than Obama has.
But, at the same time, I’m sure Obama speak more Arabic than Bush does. Remember the trips Obama took to the middle east during his college days than no one seems to know who paid for them?

I put up a post on my blog about this very subject, so I’ll just cut and paste choice parts of it. Invalid10, you are free to comment on it:

You want my children to learn Spanish, I want yours to learn Japanese. Please explain why Spanish should be taught over Japanese.
Here is one reason your children should learn Japanese. Japanese employers give us jobs. Illegal aliens who come here with their distorted slang Spanish take ours. Therefore, you should learn Japanese over Spanish since it will increase your chances for different markets of employment. Plain and simple, it is financially more beneficial.
But, I do know why Obama really said it. He is pro-amnesty for illegal aliens and this is just another way of his pandering for votes.”

Ya he probably speaks more than Obama.
I heard one of Bush’s adviser’s laughing at the idea that Bush actually spoke spanish a couple years ago…I think I saw it on thinkprogress and crooksandliars.
There was a a lot of stage craft during the Bush elections including Bush’s so called Spanish speaking abilities. Remember Bush’s fake Fake cowboy they constructed for the Bush years. He sold it right after the election I believe. Bush can read Spanish off a script (and mangle the it badly), but I have yet to see him actually speaking it to someone back and forth. I’ve seen Jeb speaking it so i’ll buy into that being legitimate.

invalid… there was a press conference which had a Spanish newspaper reporter there. W. spoke Spanish to the reporter’s question. It even generated some laughs with that reporter.
Sure seems pretty genuine that he could speak it if he answered a question and made a bit of a joke about it.
