Elevating the dialogue
Jimmy Carter: People who oppose ObamaCare are racist.
“I think an overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity toward President Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man, that he’s African-American. I live in the South, and I’ve seen the South come a long way, and I’ve seen the rest of the country that share the South’s attitude toward minority groups at that time, particularly African Americans. That racism inclination still exists. And I think it’s bubbled up to the surface because of the belief of many white people, not just in the South but around the country, that African-Americans are not qualified to lead this great country. It’s an abominable circumstance, and it grieves me and concerns me very deeply.”
Nothing makes me want to support ObamaCare like being called a racist by Jimmy Carter!
On the other hand, with Obama and Bernanke doing everything in their power to bring about stagflation, it’s a nice touchstone to hear from the patron saint of stagflation. Am I racist if I oppose stagflation, too?

You know the first 10 years after Carter was out of office he really helped himself with Homes-Habitat and other issues.
Then something happened-he turned against Israel, visited terrorists, went and supported elections that were obviously crooked, and started a passionate left wing attack on anything Republican or conservative. Why he decided to end his career this way is beyond me.

“I think an overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity toward Kermit the Frog is based on the fact that he is a frog, that he’s Frogian-American. I live in the pond areas and I’ve seen the pond areas come a long way, and I’ve seen the rest of the country that share the pond areas’s attitude toward green living things at that time, particularly Frogian Americans. That anti Frogian inclination still exists. And I think it’s bubbled up to the surface because of the belief of many Toads and Fishes and others, not just in the pond areas but around the country, that Frogian-Americans are not qualified to be kissed by the princess. It’s an abominable circumstance, and it grieves me and concerns me very deeply.”

Jimmy Carter (March 2004) on President Bush and Tony Blair calling them liars—–”There was no reason for us to become involved in Iraq recently. That was a war based on lies and misinterpretations from London and from Washington, claiming falsely that Saddam Hussein was responsible for [the] 9/11 attacks, claiming falsely that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. And I think that President Bush and Prime Minister Blair probably knew that many of the allegations were based on uncertain intelligence … a decision was made to go to war [then people said] ‘Let’s find a reason to do so’.”
Now here is Carter on Joe Wilson yesterday–”The president is not only the head of government, he is the head of state. And no matter who he is or how much we disagree with his policies, the president should be treated with respect.”

* Carter’s Misery Index scores a 16.27.
* in his first month in office he cut the Defense Budget by $6 Billion dollars
* he unilaterally removed all nuclear weapons and reduced U.S. Troop levels in South Korea
* he canceled the the B-1 bomber program, further weakening the U.S. Military
* he reinstated the draft
* his SALT (Strategic Arms Limitations Talks) One and Two treaties served only to weaken U.S. defense
* Carter’s National Security Advisor Zbigniew Brzezinski admitted that the United States began sending aid to anti-Soviet Afghan Islamist factions on July 3, 1979 (even then Carter was a sympathetic ally of Islamofascists)
* Carter and Brzezinski started a $40 billion covert program of training Islamic fundamentalists in Pakistan and Afghanistan
* he single-handedly ruined our relationship with Iran, a U.S. ally since World War II thereby allowing Iran’s maturation into the world threat that it is today
* he refused to allow American athletes to participate in the 1980 Moscow Summer Olympics
* he increased the payroll tax for Social Security
* the prime lending rate hit 21.5% in December 1980, the highest rate in U.S. history under any President

Not surprising that Jimmuh would identify with Obambi, as Obambi’s presidency is shaping up just like Jimmuh’s… rudderless… out of control… attacked by all sides… tone deaf… just pure incompetency.
They both got in on the heels of unpopular predecessor presidents. Neither had/has a rational plan, other than winning a single election in an uncompetitive environment. That is the prescription for failure.
Their problem was/is compounded by the kooky Congresses elected in ’72 and ’74 and ’06 and ’08, in response to the incompetence of the previous Congresses. Those Congresses ensure the failure of an incompetent president.
I think the Republicans are pretty stupid, so no telling if they can select an acceptable presidential candidate in ’12, but the people can certainly select acceptable Congressional candidates in ’10, and will, no doubt.
Then, we start cutting this spending. We start investigating the crooks and czars. We start jailing people. Obambi and this current Congress have no mandate, as the polling data shows, but the next Congress will have one.
I think we better get ready for “You lie!” writ large. That’s the environment we are entering now. About damn time.

Maybe not “racist” by the strictest definition:
… but certainly racially insensitive, unkind, and completely unnecessary.

Yeah well, speaking of insensitive and unkind and unnecessary, that KSM photo is pretty tough to look at, Varones.
