Flag me, Obama!
By W.C. Varones ~ August 11th, 2009 @ 9:04 am
Last week I noted that President Obama was asking citizens to inform on their neighbors who spread “disinformation” about ObamaCare. Today, inspired by Cliff Asness’s new site, www.flagmeobama.com, I’ve decided to do the right thing and turn myself in.
From: W.C. Varones
To: flag@whitehouse.gov
Cc: flagmeobama@gmail.comPresident Obama,
I need to be flagged. I’ve had some doubleplusungood thoughts about your health care plan.

We should ban those thing.

Really?
More accurately, you are choosing to spin it this way for your own ends.
Disinformation from the left is bad, but disinformation from the right is good if it achieves the desired ends. The GOP is happy with letting people think that there will be Death Panels, even though it is incorrect.

Obama’s effort to track dissent against his Obamacare.

Pluto,
More accurately, that’s exactly what the White House is asking for.
If you’re going to quibble with my description, the only real license I took was with the word “neighbors,” as he’s asking people to inform on everyone who spreads “disinformation,” not just their literal neighbors.
August 11th, 2009 at 11:42 am
wcvarones, the website asks:
“If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov.”
You are spinning it as some Orwellian informing on your neighbors.
Since the right seems to think that they will appear before Death Panels, you have to agree that Obama is worried about disinformation.
Your Orwellian spin is self-motivated.

Below is an example of the type of disinformation that the Obama folks want to know about. Contrary to your hype, he wants to know about things like this, not making list of dissidents or some such Orwellian crap.
RUSH: Scott in Los Angeles, hi, sir, great you’re here.
CALLER: Hey, how are you doing? Listen, of all the scary things in this health care bill, Rush, the scariest thing is this: The government, if this passes, will be able to go into your bank account or anybody’s bank account — I just read this last night — anybody’s bank account, take the money out to fund this monstrosity. Did you know that?
RUSH: Yes. I have reported on it. Direct deposit access to every individual’s bank account.

Why don’t we get to fight about the “surge” this time?
Last time the surge was very contentious. Remember- how successful the surge was????
Another 45,000 US troops needed for the Afghanistan troop surge, military adviser says, bringing the troops levels to close to Iraq’s troops levels
The United States should send up to 45,000 extra troops to Afghanistan, a senior adviser to the American commander in Kabul has told The Times.
Anthony Cordesman, an influential American academic who is a member of a team that has been advising General Stanley McChrystal, now in charge of Nato forces in Afghanistan, also said that to deal with the threat from the Taleban the size of the Afghan National Army might have to increase to 240,000.
If Mr Cordesman’s recommendation reflects the view of General McChrystal, who recently presented the findings of a 60-day review of Afghanistan strategy to Washington, it would mean sending another nine combat brigades, comprising 45,000 American troops, in addition to the 21,000 already approved by President Obama. This would bring the total American military presence in Afghanistan to about 100,000, considerably closer to the force that was deployed for the counter-insurgency campaign in Iraq.

The hilarious thing is that the right is making it out like Obama wants to create an Orwellian nightmare out of the USA, and then when he tries to confront the dissemination of hysteria by people such as Rush, Beck, and bloggers such as wcvarones, then Obama is hit again with trying to create an Orwellian nightmare.
How the GOP is going to rise like a Phoenix out of the ashes of their own making, hard to imagine.

Pluto- do you support the troops surge in Afghanistan?
Afghanistan is one giant clusterfuck. Unlike Iraq, I supported the invasion of Afghanistan. But, your question is a leading one, and refers to Iraq. And so I am not interested in answering it for you, other than to say that Afghanistan is a clusterfuck that belongs to me, you, Obama, and America.

I recently bought beers for a couple vets back from the Afghanistan-Pakistan border. One of the two guys was physically seriously fucked up, from a mortar explosion that threw him 20 feet, and that was just for starters. A clusterfuck with no solutions in sight.

A man carried a handgun strapped to his leg to a town hall meeting being held by President Obama in Portsmouth, New Hampshire on Tuesday.
It’s legal for him to have the gun as long as it is unconcealed, the police told MSNBC. The man was on private property — church ground on the roadway leading to the high school where Obama would speak. The church gave the man permission to be there. However, according to police officers, he is under constant surveillance and is not anywhere near where the president will speak.
The moron is likely conflating his first and second amendment rights, thinking that he is clever.
He also has a right to be extremely stupid, and he is exercising that right to its fullest.

Why’s it a leading one? I think we should leave and let them farm their opium.
I think it’s a pretty good bet that we’ll still be there when Obama leaves office (probably Iraq too.)
I think Ron Paul should denounce his vote to go into Afghanistan even he was thinking it would be a more limited mission than what has occurred on the basis of…..FUCK NO GOVERNMENT YOU ARE NOT CAPABLE OF RETALIATING.
Anything you try to do you will screw up so it’s best if we do nothing at all.

Section 163 of the bill now in Congress allows the government real-time access to a person’s bank records, including direct access to bank accounts for electronic fund transfers. “Even-though the bill mentions privacy aspects, the fact remains that if approved, Obama’s health care plan will allow government access at any time to your personal bank records,” KFYI News reports.
“It’s pretty Orwellian, it certainly gets the government pretty darn deeply involved in private matters in our lives,” Arizona Congressman John Shadegg told the news radio station.
Orwellian it is, but hardly surprising or unprecedented.

Good thing Roe protects abortion but doesn’t protect people’s right to privacy.
The government can control your medical records…no big deal to the Supreme Court.
August 11th, 2009 at 12:47 pm
From politifact.com an independent watch group—-
• Page 59: The federal government will have direct, real-time access to all individual bank accounts for electronic funds transfer. Barely True: Section 163 sets out goals for electronic health records. One of the goals is to include features that “enable electronic funds transfers, in order to allow automated reconciliation” between payment and billing. The legislative summary says the intent in the section is “to adopt standards for typical transactions” between insurance companies and health care providers. The legislation generically describes typical electronic banking transactions and does not outline any special access privileges.

I’d be a little bit worried! The president names the people on the health committee to oversee who gets immediate care with the surgeon general as the chairman!
My guess is conservatives and republicans are not going to be at the top of the list.

MI Conservative,
You’d best change your party affiliation now if you want any shot at decent healthcare. The 21st century hippie libbies are already ahead of you in line.

OK, you’re in. So far it’s you, Orly Taitz, William Kostric, Joe the Plumber, and that crazy chick from Alaska, Tina Fey.

Obamacare will be just like the post office, long lines and shitty service. However, there is one major difference between the two. If the post office screws up, little Johnny doesn’t get grandma’s birthday card she sent him. If Obamacare screws up, you die.
Chack out my take, and stick around for more good content.

I voted for Obama thinking that he would change things. Well he has changed things…… for the worse.
I’m done with him. He will not get my vote in 2012!
He is lying to the American people everytime he opens his mouth.
