Dire Results!! A Warning

By Oak Leaf ~ July 12th, 2009 @ 11:12 am

Barbara Boxer;

If the Senate doesn’t pass a bill to cut global warming, Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer says, there will be dire results: droughts, floods, fires, loss of species, damage to agriculture, worsening air pollution and more.

Do those comments remind you of something?

If this is indeed true, then we need solutions today not tomorrow, because the way Barbara Boxer is talking, we do not have time to wait for tomorrow.

But we do have solutions today and I think it is time for both parties to reach across the aisle with on the shelf technology that creates zero CO2 emissions but will create plenty of green jobs;

Nuclear power plants do not emit criteria pollutants or greenhouse gases when they generate electricity. Numerous studies demonstrate that nuclear energy’s life-cycle emissions are comparable to renewable forms of generation, such as wind and hydropower, and far less than those of coal- or natural gas-fired power plants.

It is time to “save the planet” today by channeling the “spirit” of FDR with an immediate construction program of replacing every coal/natural gas power plant with green nuclear power.

If we want to be truly bold, we could double our electrical generation capacity and replace every gasoline vehicle with a clean electric vehicle, powered by green nuclear plants.

If we are facing “droughts, floods, fires, loss of species, damage to agriculture, worsening air pollution and more” we do not have time to wait for new technology.

On the other hand, Barbara Boxer may just be full of hot air. Because if it was so dire, we would be building nuclear plants all over the country.

    Don’t be surprised in Boxer and Feinstein aren’t in with Al Gore and stand to make hundreds of millions off global warming.

    “What’s this?” thought Barack Obama. “I can feel nothing warmer at all! That is terrible. Am I stupid? Am I a flat-earther? Am I a denier? Am I not fit to be President? That would be the most dreadful thing that could happen to me. “Oh, it is very hot!” Obama said aloud. “It has my highest approbation.” And Obama nodded in a contented way, and gazed outside, for he would not say that he felt no Global Warming. The whole entourage that he had with him looked and looked, and felt no warming, any more than the rest; but, like Barack Obama they said, “It is so hot!” and Rahm Emanuel counseled him to always say that he felt hot when he was out in public, even hotter than all the Chicago troubles were making them both feel. “It is warm, hot even!” went from mouth to mouth. On all sides there seemed to be general warming, and Barack Obama gave Al Gore the title of Imperial Master of Global Warming Science and made Barbara Boxer the Czar in charge of stopping the sky from falling.

    So Barack Obama went in procession, and every one in the streets said, “How incomparable hot it is! What a hot day it is!” No one would let it be perceived that he could not feel warming, for that would have shown that he was not fit for his office, or was very stupid or a flat-earther or a denier. No day of Barack Obama’s had ever been as hot as this one.

    “But I’m freezing my ass off out here!” a little child cried out at last. “Just hear what that innocent says!” said the father: and one whispered to another what the child had said. “But it is cold out here!” said the whole people at length. That touched Barack Obama, for it seemed to him that they were right; but the thought within himself was, “I must go through with feeling all the Global Warming. I do not dare to do otherwise” And so he held himself a little higher, and his aides held on tighter than ever, and proclaimed the Global Warming which did not exist at all.

    Oak Leaf’s extreme liberalism is really growing tiresome. I wish he woul jut leave this site already.

    I’m sure Daily Kos or Democratic Underground would love to have his services.

    [You obviously did not read the blog post did you? Just admit, you did not read it. It was a direct slam on the global cooling/warming/climate change sham. OL]

    I’m with Aaron. Nix the Chamelon, pronto!

    [Or maybe believing in global warming/cooling/climate change HAS become the GOP position. Thats probably it since Johnny McCain is the cheerleader on that subject. So since I call it a sham, that makes me the anti-GOP. OL]

    What does “Johnnie McCain” have to do with the fact that you are a wienie, and have singlehandedly diminished the impact and credibility of this once great site?

    And, oh yeah, please give us the heads up when that massive Obama/Bush recovery that you promised starts ( I mean aside from your thought provoking post about the great stock returns for Dr. Pepper….LOL). I want conservatives to be ready to “embrace it” as you suggested.

    [Hmm, that Obama Bull Market turned out swell didn't it? OL]

    [If history is a guide, "conservatives" will embrace the recovery (US Equity Markets) shortly after the 2010 elections when they get whacked in November. OL]
