Good old Mary Landrieu – a moderate Democrat not afraid to cross party lines and vote in the best interests of her constituents.
Landrieu is the top-rated Senator in the nation as far as crossing party lines to vote with the majority wishes of her state.

Kucinich and house liberals all voted against the bill. The republicans voted against it.
It’s essentially a special interest bill as far as I can tell.

Her state declared for McCain the moment the polls closed on Election Night, Bonaparte, and Obama has no chance of ever carrying it. What she’s doing is called self-preservation.

Man what happened to this site?
As much as I hated Lori “I ate 5 Big Macs” Byrd and Jayson “Metallica Rules!!!” Jayvitz, the traffic was much more substantive back then.

Man what happened to this site?
Oak Leaf, duh
Can’t blame OL entirely though. Everbody complained to Poli and he ignored the complaints. Poli had fair warning, but he decided to sh!t the bed and sleep in it instead.
Too bad.

I don’t understand. This is supposed to something that raises taxes and places a burden on everyone. Yet according to a map below from the Club for Growth. My state (Georgia) will pay only 367 million dollars. With nine million people that only comes out to 30+ dollars per year. Georgia actually seems to be typical. It seems to me that the bite will be so small as to be irrelevant and will do no harm or good from the point of view of anyone on either side. Am I missing something in the math below is the chart.

Mickey Kaus on immigration reform
Schumer gives speech on immigration. Schuma peddles biometric I.D. and employee verification scheme as solution.
Mickey Kaus highlights the following from his speech:
“What we need is for Congress to phase in E-Verify for all employers now, something that will take several years to roll out, assuming judges even allow it to go forward. But this administration won’t even implement the rule requiring federal contractors to use E-Verify”
He also notes that the ACLU will have lawsuits ready.

Well, say buh bye to good old Norm Coleman.
The Minnesota Supreme court just called the election results for Al Franken.
I wonder, how much longer Norm will obstruct the results?
Great American that he is.
He was the one who stated that Al Franken should throw in the towel back on election day.

He was the one who stated that Al Franken should throw in the towel back on election day. And be a good American and concede. Hey Norm, you hypocrite. Give it up. You lost.

Well Oak Leaf. See how they thank you?
It’s the you’re either with us or against us mentality.
This Cap and Trade bill is just a step in the right direction.
It doesn’t go far enough. This is the 21st century. And people are still stuck in the 20th century mentality on energy issues.
I happen to think that this country is Great enough to take advantage of all the smart people in it and come up with a better source(s) of energy.
The bill has better exhaust emissions control for coal fired plants.
What’s wrong with that?
The bill funds alternative sources of energy. Natural gas, Solar, Wind and yes, even Nuclear.
So what’s wrong with that?
These companies have been giving it to the public for so long now, why not make them get more energy efficient? And why not make them develop better ways to do things ?
I agree that this bill isn’t perfect . It’s just one step on the way to being more energy independent from Big Oil in the middle east .
I’m sorry to see these people turn on you Oak Leaf.
That’s the thanks you get for doing all the work you’ve put into this site.
I guess you need to be a neocon to be appreciated.
Good Luck.

This is sadly funny. Lets just call it a dark comedy.
Some of these posters blame the site for their political problems.
It’s your party numbskulls. It’s the leader of your party. Rush Limbaugh.
How anyone can listen to his crazy talk is beyond me.
And ALLLL the rest of the nutcases. Coulter, Malkin, Savage, Hannity, O Rielly.
Boehner and Mitchell aren’t helping any either.
I have a question for you folks.
.
.
What has the GOP offered as an alternative, on anything? Besides just saying No?
June 30th, 2009 at 12:12 pm
No kidding mudshark. Oak is trying so hard to educate these mouthbreathing conservatives in the beauty and truth of liberalism. When will he be appreciated?
Hang in there Oak. These rednecks are dumb but they will get it eventually. Even dumb dogs can be conditioned, Pavlov showed that.

What has the GOP offered as an alternative, on anything? Besides just saying No?
That is precisely it, the alternative is nothing, because the right-wing nutters want to drown it all in a bathtub. But, just like you need an axe in order to fashion a new axe handle, the right-wing nutters will have to find a brain someplace in order to fashion a return to the national stage.

Israelis kidnap former congresswoman while not in Israeli waters?
Today Israeli Occupation Forces attacked and boarded the Free Gaza Movement boat, the SPIRIT OF HUMANITY, abducting 21 human rights workers from 11 countries, including Noble laureate Mairead Maguire and former U.S. Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney. The passengers and crew are being forcibly dragged toward Israel.
“This is an outrageous violation of international law against us. Our boat was not in Israeli waters, and we were on a human rights mission to the Gaza Strip,” said Cynthia McKinney, a former U.S. Congresswoman and presidential candidate. “President Obama just told Israel to let in humanitarian and reconstruction supplies, and that’s exactly what we tried to do. We’re asking the international community to demand our release so we can resume our journey.”

I think Oak is a moderate Conservative.
A dying breed. Thanks to the crazy neocons who conned damned near every conservative in the country. And look what it got them? irrelevance.
They’ll be back. After some serious soul searching. When thy finally decide to do whats best for the country and bypass all the venomous rhetoric and hatred for the fellow countrymen. Then they’ll make some head way. But as long as they listen to hate speech from the likes of Limbaugh, Savage, Coulter and Hannity and yes, even Billo and Beck. They’ll never get anywhere.
Fix your party guys.
