Sanford Aftermath, Good News/Bad News
A colleague of mine had this to tell me about the GOP and Sanford;
The bad news is that two GOP Senators have been outed for having affairs this week. The good news was that it was not with each other.
I guess we have to be thankful for the small things in life.
“Dr Dog” in the earlier Sanford thread had this to say;
Everyone of you, including OakLeaf, have missed the real story. He went off on a lark, did NOT execute the appropriate transfer of power in the interval, hence was in dereliction of duty of his office. OL you know damn well the idea of chain of command. If you decided to go off on a 3 day binge without informing your adjutant and the MSgt at a minimum you know damn well you are in dereliction.
That comment could tie right into what is being said at NRO;
Sanford’s Days Are Numbered
There will be an effort to impeach Sanford, a Republican strategist with ties to South Carolina tells me. “He’s going to have to resign. It’s South Carolina.”
His rivals in the state legislature were among those fanning the flames of “Where the hell is he?”questions yesterday.
Add into the mix if any of his trips south of the border were at taxpayer expense and you can see the message.
Mark McKinnon wrote this;
And he talked about needing his trip because of the stress caused by trying to turn down stimulus money during South Carolina’s legislative session. Well, it was obvious to everyone watching that the purpose of his trip was to turn up his stimulus.
The devil stimulus money made him do it!

More good news for Sarah Palin.

I never really understood the stimulus opposition thing. It always seems like the only fair way to do it is to attempt to get all the money back that the Federal Government took from your state.

his wife now says she asked him to leave 2 weeks ago but is willing to take him back; this appears to be an attempt at damage control, but I am not sure it would work, since his main problem is dereliction of duty by not keeping staff informed about his absence
he might have made fewer enemies than spitzer, but he made enough, and his failure was more official in nature

That’s because you haven’t read portions of it. There are sections that says give unemployment to part time workers only that the state has to continue to give unemployment benefits to part time workers after the stimulus spending has ended. There are more programs in the stimulus that end and the state has to pick up the spending after the stimulus money ends. So it is like the Annointed One wants the states to increase taxes to pay for all the future spending increases in the stimulus bill.

Oak- don’t you want to see pictures first before you decide if it was worth it?
Fox News identifies Sanford as a Democrat.
This is funny because I read a liberal blog when the story first broke, and the commenters posted that thought Fox would do this and like clockwork…

Oak Leaf’s collegue is an idiot since Sanford is a Governor currently, not a Senator.

GOP continues to self-destruct….Ensign, Vitter, Jindal, Palin, and Sanford…and the beat goes on!
Chuck the whole bunch I say — better to let Obama bin Hussein and his panzy ass muslim commies destroy the country than to allow crypto-Dems like Mitch McConnell, McCain, Boehner, and Michael Steele get back in there.

Watching the GOP is like watching a car crash in slow motion – painful but fascinating.

Yes Italian it’s quite similar to watching the current administration and the nation as a whole, not just fascinating it’s down right hilarious.

You certainly have to put what Sanford did as being worse than Ensign. Not only did he cheat,but the cowardice(I cried for five days),and shirking his responsibility.

Mark McKinnon is an insider Washington liberal elitist.
Still, yes, Sanford should be finished. Totally irresponsible to just run off, and for those reasons.
Anyways, amazing that I check in at Polipundit less and less frequently (seems a lot of people do that as the number of posts is WAY down– no surprise with idiots like Oak Leaf here), and things are still the same, they follow the negative media path and talk about all bad things Republican all the time.
What a waste of a site this is. Thanks there is at least Be John Galt around.

Ensign. Sanford. How to be a Promise Keeper and Family Values politician and still get laid.
June 25th, 2009 at 11:40 pm
It is NOT Sanford’s fault. It is Obama’s fault. I heard this on talk radio so it must be true. The way Obama is screwing up the country that Sanford just said to hell with everything. Screw it!!! How many more good men are going to be ruined by the evil and demonic democrat administration?

The gay community demands that the union of two men be recognized as marriage, identical to the union of a man and a woman. This is in spite of humanity throughout the millennia of history treating marriage as only between a man and a woman. This is in spite of the Hebrew Bible explicitly prohibiting and condemning sex between two men. The argument for gay marriage is the strong emotions, and the attitude that in modern secular society, where God’s laws no longer rule us, people’s emotions and freedom must be paramount.
Why, then, have the gay community been silent on Governor Sanford’s affair? He explained to his wife that he loves this Latin woman, and wishes to remain married. Mrs. Sanford refused to agree to a three-some relationship. The gay community should speak up and support the Governor, as the gay attitude is that emotions and feelings are paramount. He should be allowed to fly to see his mistress, as long as he pays for the trip, and informs the staff of his whereabouts, and continue to be married and have sex with his wife.
Here is the logical fallacy. Sex is different from all other human experiences. With everything else, we do what we enjoy and gives us pleasure, with the focus on the self. We eat good food as our bodies enjoy the food. We sing to large crowds and make money because we enjoy doing it. With sex, on the other had, two people are involved. Each person, each husband and wife, has the moral obligation to make himself/herself interesting and available to the other. Sex is experience where we must give attention to the other. The Hebrew Bible in Exodus states that there are three things a man must do for his wife: Give her attention (i.e., sex), food, and clothing. We criticize the Governor for not giving his wife enough attention so that she would then respond and keep her husband happy and free of thoughts of others.
The former Governor of New Jersey also left his wife for a gay lover. Here again, even though he was a gay person, who was attracted to men, he should have given his wife plenty of attention so that she would respond, so that he would not need to think of other men. The discussion of McGreevey centered around gay rights. This was the wrong discussion. The discussion should have focused on the couple’s mutual obligation to give each other plenty of attention and sex.
The same story is true for President Clinton. The couple had separate bedrooms. Obviously they did not give each other plenty of attention and sex, and so the President had to satisfy himself with the young girls running around. Very little has been written about the lack of attention each gave each other, as indicated by separate bedrooms.

First, thank you for an interesting post! I believe the US government needs to step it up. Things need to be better taken care of.
