Republicans Take New York

Republicans apparently gained control of the New York State Senate as two Democrats suddenly defected for unknown reasons. WTF??

I think the two Latino NYC Democrats switched parties because of several factors:
1. NY State Governor David Paterson (D) is very unpopular and poll after poll shows him getting crushed in both the primary and general as he struggles to gain political support in his bid for a 1st full four-year term in the Executive Mansion.
2. Democrats, who controlled the NY State Senate tried desperately to block GOP bills from being passed and shut off computers and turned off the lights in the State Senate chamber, leaving the 2 Dems and remaining GOPers voting in the dark.
3. The Gay Marriage Bill, and mishandling leadership of Malcolm Smith.

Ralph, why is it that California, whose state flower is the golden poppy, leads the nation in municipalities that start with the letter S?

That whole story is kinda crazy. Are the two Democrats switching parties, or just switching for this one cause?

They are said to have switched parties. The Democrats are going nuts here, saying that its unconstitutional for them to switch and change the power structure of the state senate.
Understand though that NY republicans aren’t the most conservative minded group out there. Patterson is horrible as a Governor as his solution to everything is raise taxes, then add taxes to the taxes, and raise them some more.
Jobs are leaving in large numbers and its due in good part to the high taxation. So, Patterson looks to fix this by raising taxes. Brilliant.
He is also the force behind legislating gay marriage.
Hispanics generally are against this.

How does tjhe economy shrinking 1.3 TYRILLION DOLLARS affect Red Lobster sales?
THAT is everything in this economy- Oak has it down.
95% of the country may be losing their collective ass, but as long as Red Lobster is turning a profit, we are on the rebound…. Come on, Red Lobster, show a profit this quarter… we are all praying for you… come on….please show a profit….F*$k GM…..
