The article does say C-A-L-I-F-O-R-N-I-A;
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) – The California Supreme Court upheld a voter-approved ban on same-sex marriage Tuesday,

What amazed me about this was the 1 Supreme Court Justice who sided with the plaintiffs on this issue, arguing that Prop. 8 constituted a “revision” of the Constitution rather than an “amendment.”

Why are the ones who married allowed to keep their status? Makes no sense.

Oftentimes the will of the voters is wrong because many of the voters are self serving idiots. Ca. voters turn out to be right on this one, but they were wrong on BHO who just nominated potentially the worst SCOTUS Justice ever in our history, after he has bankrupted our nation and then demanded that we fund socialized medicine to get us out of the bankruptcy.
I most certainly don’t have to trust the will of the voters. I don’t put my “trust” in any decision man makes. I must live with it until it can be changed, if in fact it can be.

As usual, the poster is wrong, the will of the people should be followed only when the constitutional rights of the minority are protected.
The will of the people cannot deprive a minority of its speech or property rights, or the right to arms, among others. We are a constitutional republic, not a democracy.
“democracy is two wolves and a lamb deciding what’s for dinner. A republic is a well armed lamb contesting the vote”…Ben Franklin.
Oak Leaf head up his ass number 2: Hey there Oak! how do you like Obama’s OPENLY BOASTFUL race/gender based AA judicial activist. I thought you said you wept tears for this COMMUNIST because there was no way that was going to happen.
Bought and paid for democrat hack.

Like when hitler/chavez/castro/ et al were elected by the will of the voters.
If those voters had any will, they wouldn’t keep electing marxiats to run the state. There were right this time, but only by 52%. Next time around they will probbly vote the other way.

I am just glad to see that the California Supreme Court got the same-sex marriage right. The court stated that the voter approved ban on same-sex marriage was constitutional; however, it did not prohibit same-sex couples from entering into civil unions which afford the couples the same rights as married couples.
If the same-sex proponents want to win this debate they need to settle for civil unions and begin pushing to have the federal laws changed giving civil unions the same protections as marriage.

Well, I heard on analyst explain that the court ruled the definition of marriage between man and woman was Constitutional, but they also said equal treatment was required.
The analyst said he could see California banning all marriage except for religious, church marriages and require everyone to do civil unions.
Marriage ban for heteros is what anti-Christian gays really want, especially religious marriages, so they ain’t done yet.
