Obama Motors
Kaus has a round-up of the farce that is Obama’s plan for Chrysler, ending with this conclusion:
Final obvious point: I don’t want to sound like Veronique de Rugy here, but who will pay the price if when this half-baked “restructuring” fails? In normal “capitalism at work,” those who would pay the price will be those who made the deal and put up their money–the capitalists. (Query: Would [Obama Motors cheerleader] Scott Sperling invest his firm’s money in this dubious proposition?) If When Obama’s plan fails, the monetary loss will fall not on Obama, but on the taxpayers. It will likely be made up somehow by the taxpayers (via higher tax assessments or inflation). That’s not “capitalism at work.” It’s something else at work. But I’d be all for it, if I thought it really would work. It won’t, and it will be Obama’s fault. (He’d certainly get credit if it succeeded.)

No, it’s not capitalism. It’s a combination of large corporations and government. There is a name for it but if I used it people would say I’m launching an unfair attack on Obama.

I’m wondering why there isn’t concern about Obama making his own TV releases. This seems like a first step toward filtered news. This along with his work to take over large corporations is very troubling.
Isn’t that what Germany did? Control the manufacturing, control the media (even more than it is already) then what comes next?

One could argue it is Ford Motors since that is when the CAFE standards started:

The Bureau Of Labor Statistics’ Mass Layoff Events statistic indicates that the wholesale firing by corporations is accelerating once more again after a small respite in the January to March period. The BLS defines a Mass Layoff Event as one that occurs when an establishment has at least 50 initial unemployment compensation claims filed against it within a five-week period and the layoff lasts longer than 30 days. In other words, as the name implies, a mass layoff. This goes hand in hand with initial jobless claims reports.
