Thousands turn out to protest Schwarzenegger, taxes
Out here in California, we really hate Schwarzenegger. Thousands turned out in Corona to protest against Schwarzenegger’s tax-hiking Proposition 1A, which looks doomed to fail in Tuesday’s election.
It was a blazing hot sunny afternoon at Tom’s Farms. The crowd was definitely in the thousands, but I doubt it got to 10,000. I could be wrong. Traffic was backed up on I-15 with people trying to get in. Let’s start with a video of KFI’s John and Ken getting to the heart of the matter (toward the end of the rally):
Now in more or less chronological order. The “doors opened at 3pm” with the official start at 4pm. I arrived at 3:00 and we were already into the overflow parking lots. On the way in:
While the vast majority of the signs were anti-1A, anti-Schwarzenegger, anti-tax, and anti-spending, there were a few folks supporting related issues such as stopping illegal immigration and legalizing marijuana. This guy and his buddies were partying it up in a prime parking spot at the entrance to the event.
Before the storm:
The good folks at Recall Anthony Adams were set up early:
And in front of the next booth, someone with a creative “Arnold is 1A-hole” message talks to Colleen of TotalRecall2009:
The Shredex truck, into whose shredder many Schwarzenegger likenesses were fed:
I didn’t notice him at the time, but there’s a sheikh in the crowd:
Righteous indignation at Schwarzenegger’s terrorist threats:
Capitalism in action (though at that price, they’re probably selling like Government Motors cars):
A little irony here. The bumper sticker supports Nathan Fletcher, a Republican weenie legislator who supported the backroom tax-hike deal.
This lady was a real artist. Side 1:
And side 2:
A naked, upside down Schwarzenegger effigy was used as a piñata for kids to smash to pieces…
… followed by a clothed, right-side-up effigy, which was also smashed to pieces.
One of the lucky many to catch a free T-shirt being thrown into the crowd by KFI staff:
This guy made good use of a sign from Schwarzenegger’s original campaign. And there’s that sheikh again. Is he following me?

The man with “The Twins” sign wins the prize. That one hit it out of the park w/o being nasty. And so true.

varones-who do you favor in the 2010 governor’s race?

Why is this such a hard question? If we didn’t pay benefits to illegals, we would have more than 3 billion dollars surplus in the budget.
Build the fence, secure our borders, and enforce our laws.
And stop giving our money to illegals!

Graham lectures a crowd of local voters telling them that his views are the winning views, and if you don’t agree with his views, then you should leave the party. Then he goes on to tell the crowd how the party has to reach out to independent voters, but only ones who support the winning views of Lindsey.
“You’re a hypocrite!,” one man in the audience yelled.
“I’m a winner, pal,” Graham retorted. Moments later, after saying he wants to the party to reach out to independent voters, he said: “Winning matters to me. If it doesn’t matter to you, there’s the exit sign.”

WC,
Good post. You are the only reason to come to this blog anymore.

McConnell pressed this morning, but still won’t endorse Jim Bunning.
“Despite being pressed by Fox News Sunday’s, Chris Wallace, Senator Mitch McConnell would not endorse Jim Bunning for re-election. McConnell repeatedly stated that the Senate race was still developing and acknowledged the formation of two exploratory committees (Grayson and Paul).“
Lindsey Graham has been annoying me more than usual lately. It would be nice to have Rand in the senate to aggravate him.

Earl,
Poizner and Whitman both look like squishy moderates to me so far. McClintock would be the best, but he’d be a very long shot and probably won’t run now that he has a nice Congressional seat.
Nobody inspires me at this point, and I doubt that will change by the 2010 election.

I believe Tom Campbell is also running. He’s even more liberal than the others.

this is what happens when you californians vote for an actor to govern your state. it’s no wonder the state isn’t doing so well. Just like the PHilippines, they vote for actors to govern their state and look how the country is doing- poorly!
