The GOP’s newfound backbone in the Senate may be for real. After Orrin Hatch made clear that he intends to push through judges and deprecate “blue slips” on the judiciary committee, Trent Lott is pressuring business groups to give their campaign contributions more lopsidedly to Republicans.
