Now that there are so many Democratic candidates in the presidential field and it looks like Bush will have little primary opposition, here’s an interesting thought. What’s to prevent Bush from using his vast stash of campaign funds to help pick the Democratic nominee? Gray Davis successfully did it in California by attacking Richard Riordan. Jeb Bush almost pulled it off in Florida by attacking Bill McBride. If Bush thinks Joe Lieberman, for example, is his preferred opponent, he might spend some of his ad dollars on bashing John Kerry and John Edwards during the Democratic primaries.
