Storm in a teacup?

Republican and Democratic Senate leaders are waging a quiet war over funding Senate committees. The question is whether the committees will be funded 2-1, as tradition dictates, or 50-50, as was the case when Democrats controlled the Senate by a 50-49-1 margin last year.

This seemingly minor battle doesn’t mean much to most voters; but it’s an early test of will for incoming Majority Leader Bill Frist and Minority Leader Tom Daschle. It’ll be interesting to see how it pans out. Republicans seem eager to take the battle before the public and held a press conference to explain their side, complete with references to a “coup.”
