Liberal Media Backlash?

More evidence supporting my liberal-media-backlash hypothesis:
Early reports are that after the first round of allegations surfaced Thursday Schwarzenegger actually went up a bit in the tracking polls, largely on the strength of increasing support from Republicans. The same was evident at his rallies, where the crowds are growing and reporters are finding his supporters enraged at the media for, in their view, trying to tear him down. Not to say that more stories from more gropees in the days ahead couldn’t turn that around. But on Day One Schwarzenegger seemed bouyed by his new-found friends in the Republican establishment.
I’m still not sure about the outcome, though. I still think it’s a tossup between the three possibilities I outlined on Thursday:
- Davis survives the recall.
- Conservative (and moderate) backlash against the LAT propels Arnold to the governorship, albeit with a lesser margin of victory than he might have otherwise gotten.
- The recall wins, but conservatives defect from Arnold to McClintock, splitting the GOP vote and allowing Satan himself, Bustamante, to become governor.
