UAW Owns GM Now

The union’s ownership [of GM] so does not seem a problem. It seems a virtue. Let the UAW, as new owner of GM, pay the price for the overgrown work rules of its locals. Let the UAW demand above-market raises from itself. Let the UAW try to raise money from new lenders after the previous round of lenders has been royally screwed (thanks, in part, to the UAW). And then let the UAW try to sell the cars that result.

Talk about a grand lesson in empathy. The UAW will find out first hand what it requires to run a business, to remain competitive, and therefore be able to pay people’s salaries and provide them benefits.

Facing $1.3 Billion dollar deficit the Michigan Senate approves 4th $100 million tax break. Gee no wonder the state is in deficit. The state might as well make everything tax free LOL!!!

Now that the UAW owns the company, that means UAW members now belong to a company union. The opportunity is ripe for the Machinists, Teamsters, or SEIU (government workers’ union) to organize GM UAW plants and put a good old traditional adversarial-to-management union back in place.

Wow, sweet. If GM is not in so much debt that they can’t stay afloat, and the UAW retains majority ownership of it, then GM will be making some great cars.
I’ve always thought that the workers should own the businesses they work at. It gives them a much greater incentive to do a good job.
I don’t see why people don’t like American cars. My 1990 Crown Vic is still the most reliable car I’ve ever had. While every one of my friend’s imports have had major things go wrong with them. I.E. Bent rod on a Supra, broken transmission on a Prelude, cracked head on the same Prelude, faulty transmission on another Supra, cracked piston on a Jetta, etc… And replacement parts are horribly over-priced.
