Iraqis May Seek Death by Hanging for Saddam

This report from The Washington Times says that Iraqi officials plan to move swiftly after June 30 to put Saddam Hussein on trial.
Salem Chalabi also said the Iraqi government expects to file charges quickly against Saddam and other top members of his regime once it assumes authority at the end of the month.Saddam “may be charged relatively soon,” said Mr. Chalabi from Baghdad. “We can expect movement after June 30. We are working the arrangements out.”
The report goes on to explain that Bremer suspended the death penalty in Iraq, but that the new Iraqi government may move to reinstate it after June 30. One impediment to reinstatement is the opposition of the international community, particularly donor nations, to the death penalty.
