When Will Sullivan Follow Kaus?

By Lorie Byrd ~ July 11th, 2004 @ 1:13 pm

If his most recent posts (here, here and here) are any indication, it shouldn’t be long before Andrew Sullivan follows Mickey Kaus in declaring that he will be voting for Kerry. Sullivan said several months ago that Bush’s stance on the gay marriage issue was a deal breaker for him, but has not yet come out in favor of a Kerry presidency. I have a lot of respect for Andrew Sullivan and am impressed not only by his intelligence and brilliant writing, but also by his honesty. However, I think if Sullivan does come out for Kerry, after all he has written about the war on terrorism, it will be hard for me to believe he really “gets it”. If Kerry’s foreign policy “plan” of giving more power to the UN and France are followed, does anyone really believe we will be more safe and that the terrorists will not have won a victory? How many gay marriages does he think the Islamic terrorists are going to condone?
