Christmas In August (And Some Think We Are In A Recession?)

During two separate back-to-school shopping trips this week, I was amazed to see Halloween, Thanksgiving, and even Christmas(!) items already on display. From a political perspective I guess I should be celebrating the joys of capitalism and commerce, but please, do we really need a 5 month run-up to Christmas? The thought that there are actually people already buying Christmas items makes me feel like an incredibly inadequate homemaker. (On a personal note, the Halloween decorations reminded me of my cousin Beverly’s incredible website. For all those with kids, or for all those overgrown kids, who like to go “all out” at Halloween, it is a must-see site.)
