More Experts Come Forward
The full ABC News story is online. It’s devastating for CBS. Turns out that the experts hired by CBS warned them that the documents were fake. One expert even said, “I told them that all the questions I was asking them on Tuesday night, they were going to be asked by hundreds of other document examiners on Thursday if they ran that story.”
And indeed the questions were asked by rapidfire bloggers. The question CBS has to answer now is What did Dan Rather know and when did he know it?

This goes far beyond journalistic malpractice and could go as far as libel (or slander). Dan Rather and CBS knowingly broadcast a story they knew to be based on documents that could not be authenticated and were most likely forgeries, advice they received from their own experts.
So much for the “we were duped” defense. This explains why Rather’s been stonewalling. His guilt is much deeper than previously thought. Instead of being a victim of a hoax, we know know that Rather played his part in it, knowing full well that he could be using forged documents to affect a presidential election.
