Since 1948, inclusive, how many Democratic nominees for the presidency have carried 50 percent of the ballots cast by Ohio voters?
(i) Ten.
(ii) Five.
(iii) One.
(iv) All of them.
(v) Ohio is a Democratic bastion.
The correct answer is: (iii), one of them.
Specifically, Lyndon Johnson received the support of a majority of voters in the Buckeye State, back in the national landslide election of 1964. Since then, however, no Democratic nominee has garnered even 49 percent of the popular vote in Ohio. (See here and here.)
So, do you still believe the “polls?”
