What Nascent Democracy?

Despite the fact that the Associated (de)Press(ed) takes all of two sentences to degenerate into liberal-Democratic talking points, in the course of “reporting” about it, the bottom line is that Iraq is moving inexorably in the direction of becoming a full-fledged democracy.

Back in the 1980’s, the liberal media screamed at us that communism and the Soviet Union were not going away, that spending vast sums of money to defeat them was feckless, and that pushing hard against the high tide of foreign-policy inertia amounted to “reckless cowboy diplomacy.”

It will be very interesting to juxtapose the present-day media’s constant gloom and doom mongering, about Iraq, with the actual reality on the ground, come 2012 or thereabouts . . .
