2006 Nebraska Governor Race

Senator Chuck Hagel (R-France) has endorsed Governor Dave Heineman in the latter’s bid to fend off a likely challenge from Congressman Tom Osbourne.
Of course Republicans are still reeling from the decision of President Bush to pull likely Senate nominee, former Governor Johanns, and put him in the cabinet. The Republican Senate field is extremely weak, and it is not entirely certain that any of the mentioned candidates could deny Nelson another term.
