$1.8 Million

No, not the cost of Pelosi’s and Boxer’s monthly Botox treatments.

1.8 million is the number of dollars you would have won, had you purchased a $2.00 ticket and correctly picked the “superfecta” for today’s shocking upset in the Kentucky Derby.

Needless to say, I didn’t quite handicap the race that way.

Putting that aside, those of you who watched the pre and post-race telecasts undoubtedly noticed that Gov. Ernie Fletcher got much in the way of camera time.

FWIW, my personal preference for the 2008 GOP nomination is George Allen. But I like Fletcher too.

Fletcher is the sitting governor of a Southern border state, he’s young, telegenic, and folksy, he’s real smart (a physician, no less), and well spoken.

The GOP could do a heck of a lot worse than having someone like Gov. Fletcher on that ticket.

And for those of you who might be hoping for a Northeastern strategy, well, all due respect, but I believe the following questions need to be asked:

1) When was the last time a Northeasterner won the presidency?

2) How could Hillary possibly win the Electoral College against a pro-life governor, or former governor, who would be representing the South (Allen, Fletcher, Huckabee) or the Mid-West (Pawlenty)?
