The Filibuster Clock is at Two Minutes to Midnight
The Senate Judiciary Committee just confirmed, on straight party-line votes, the nominations of Priscilla Owen and Janis Rogers Brown, respectively, to the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals and to the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals. Both nominations are poised to head towards the full Senate.
Here’s the liberal print media’s take.
And so, finally, mercifully, we’re heading towards fish or cut bait time for Limp Frist, Harry Reid, and their respective krewes.
Yeah, these are two of the justices against whom Democratic filibusters were asserted last time around. At some point quite soon, we’ll get to see if the Democrats haven’t lost quite enough elections to make them stop filibustering qualified judicial nominees, even qualified minorities and women, no less, who might eventually get tapped {gulp} for the U.S. Supreme Court. In that event, we’ll finally get to see if the GOP Senate caucus can muster 50 votes to eliminate that practice, in real life, as opposed merely to on paper or in the airwaves.
Tick, tick, tick . . .
