2006 Pennsylvania Senate Race

By Alexander K. McClure ~ June 8th, 2005 @ 12:09 pm

There are some really interesting numbers on the Senate race within the new Keystone Poll.

42% of Pennsylvanians believe Santorum deserves re-election, while 42% believe it is time for a change.

The Senator’s numbers are uniformly soft across the state, not varying in regional intensity like Rendell’s.

45% of Pennsylvanians believe he is doing an excellent or good job, while 48% rate him fair or poor.

In a head-to-head match-up, Casey leads Santorum 44%-37%. In the previous poll, Casey led 44%-43%.

UPDATE: I did not notice this in my initial review of the poll, but Rendell has a 41%-33% favorable rating, while Santorum has a 42%-26% favorable rating. Expect to see these numbers widely reported in the “Santorum is Doomed” coverage today and tomorrow.
