Optimism vs. Pessimism

Yesterday, Sen. Whiskey Ted Kennedy said the following about Iraq:

“This war has been consistently and grossly mismanaged . . . . And we are now in a seemingly intractable quagmire.”

On the other hand, earlier today, President re-elect George W. Bush said the following about Iraq:

“I am confident the Iraqi people will continue to defy the skeptics as they assume greater responsibility for their security and build a new Iraq that represents their diversity.”

Ahem.

The Democrats have lost five of the past seven presidential elections.

They’ve gone from holding 30 state governorships to 22, despite heavy turnout by dead felons in places like Seattle.

They’ve gone from holding 57 U.S. Senate seats to 44 (plus Jeffords), despite heavy turnout by dead felons in places like Orleans Parrish and despite the Torricelli switch.

They’ve fallen from 267 U.S. House seats down to 202, despite heavy turnout by corpses and felons in Southern California.

And the surreal part???

Many of their most ardent, new-age supporters literally cannot grasp the political negatives of Teddy’s comments about Iraq vis-a-vis the Prez’s comments about Iraq.

It’s not your father’s Democrat Party anymore.

And they’re going to get *worse* as time marches on . . .
