2006 Florida Senate Race

By Alexander K. McClure ~ July 1st, 2005 @ 5:33 pm

There have been three polls in the Florida Senate race. One, by Mason-Dixon, showed Katharine Harris down 15 points. Another, by Quinnipiac, showed Harris down 12 points. Another, by Strategic Vision, showed her down six points.

All three polls seem to agree that Harris has a problem with independent voters. Their last recollection of the former Secretary of State was her role in the 2000 election dispute.

Right now, I think the truth is that she trails Nelson by a single digit margin. However, to win, Harris needs to overcome the negative stereotype created five years ago and make the incumbent’s liberal record the issue.
