Sharpton
I know that Al Sharpton makes some amusing comments from time to time. I suppose that is why cable news shows continue to book him, in spite of his horrible history of fanning the flames of racism ala Tawana Brawley and Freddie’s Fashion Mart.
Every now and then, however, he says something so incredibly stupid that it is impossible to imagine there is anyone that takes him seriously. (Remember his embarrassing debate answer to a question about the chairman of the Federal Reserve?)
Thursday night on Tucker Carlson’s show on MSNBC, Sharpton did it again. The topic of discussion was a statement from Sen. Rick Santorum’s new book about how families where both parents work outside the home should take a second look at their finances, because many could make sacrifices and live on one salary. Sharpton’s response was that Senator Santorum’s votes in favor of tax cuts make it necessary for both parents to work. Carlson did at least ask him how that was, but did not press him on it. Was this a matter of getting his talking points mixed up, or is Sharpton really that clueless about economics? Either way, he does not deserve to be treated as seriously as he has been treated by those on the cable news shows, not to mention by those in the Democratic Party.
